I have not found a will or admin for Charlotte. I have no idea where either of them may be buried. I have not found any children born to this couple. I'm not to sure of Charlottes age. marriage states of Full age, both previoulsy unmarried. I've looked for any details on the Parish records at Find my past to no avail. My last resort would be to post on the forum in Hereford, Cardigan, Pembroke and Carmarthenshire.

Australia / LEWIS Family Ipswich, Moreton Bay NSW
« on: Friday 19 March 10 04:37 GMT (UK)  »
I'm not having much luck on finding this family.
David Lewis stone mason born abt 1830 Pembrokeshire Wales, migrated with wife Anne Nee Davies born abt 1829 Breconshire  - assisted passage "Persia" arrived June 26th 1856

David Lewis death is remembered on his parents MI back in Wales - Died 17 Jan 1857 Colinton Ipswich Moreton Bay New South Wales. ( No death details in Newspapers) NSW deaths confirm these details in the indexes - they also show a Female child born 1857 ( No first name given). I have checked for deaths of a child surname Lewis and also for the widow Anne Lewis to no avail. Did Ann(e) remarry? The Lewis family were Welsh Baptists.

A cousin of David Lewis named Elizabeth Lewis born abt 1843 Pembrokeshire also migrated after 1871 to Australia, supposedly married in Australia.

Can any one help steer me in the right direction to try and locate this family. Any suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks Jane

Radnorshire / MAESNYADWEN HALL - Llanbadarn fynydd
« on: Thursday 04 October 07 05:23 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if someone with local knowledge has ever heard of the name of this hall
" MAESNYADWEN HALL "

I have looked at the maps, and nothing jumps out at me. It is written quite clear in the 1861 census.

RG9/4236 Folio 8 Page 9

I have family living at this residence, Owen Lewis, who's occupation was a builder & Contractor - employing 4 Masons, 5 Carpenters, 3 plasterer's, 4 labourers and 3 boys.

I just wonder if he was employed to fix up this Hall?? and took up residence??
Owen Lewis, other than his wife has six male lodgers, whom I'm sure we're in his employment.

Has any one ever come across a situation like the one above??
Thank you
Jane

Can any one help try to make this photo some what good. I'd like to use it on my profile.. Family wedding including great grandparents. The Bride who later in life thought she was rather posh!! destroyed all wedding photo's. I happen to come across this photo by contactng rellies in Aus, where I happen to live ( wrong side) even the brides own children had never seen this photo.
The photo was under processed if that is correct but the only original I came across was badly under exposed.
I have tired several photo programs, but just seem to destroy faces and images so badly.
Thanks in advance.

Armed Forces / Police Officers sent to Boer War?
« on: Thursday 05 January 06 07:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi to everyone
I've been trying to hunt down one of my ancestors Evan Wide born 1848 Glamorgan S.Wales. Police Officer in Glamorgan according to census details. I lost his trail in 1891/ 1901 census. While searching the S.A archives for another family member who used to live in SA, low and behold EVAN WIDE'S name was listed under NAB misc documents dated 1902 Evan Wide widow. (family bible also has death date for Evan Wide as 1902) Due to the holidays I have not send for this document.

Does anyone know if Police Officers from the UK were sent to the Boer War,  I have been told that yes this did happen, as yet have found no documents or literature to read up on. If this was the case as Police Officers what regiment if they were even under a regiment would they have come under?? Was the role to guard POW's.
Sorry for all the questions, but reading this thread there are a lot of knowledgable people that may be able to steer me in the right direction.
Many Thanks
Jane
