Carmarthenshire / Great Auntie
« on: Tuesday 07 April 15 15:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, after a long period of not looking at my family tree.
I am a bit lost with my grandaunt (my Grandfather's sister).

This is the information I already have:  In 1901 census,

John Davies would be the father, he was born in Black Parish, Pembs (42 in 1901)
Ann Davies (his wife) no idea of the maiden name! (45 in 1901)
David Hughes Davies - Son (12 in 1901) place of birth Llangeler. (My grandfather)
Margaret A Davies (Daughter) (7 in 1901) place of birth Llangeler.

I cannot find what's happened to Margaret after this census (nor the parents).  I would like to trace her as I would be interested to see if she stayed in the area. My father has never mentioned her name (he was aware that his father had a sister) but he never spoke about her or even knew her name.

Any light or information would be most gratefully received.
Many thanks
A confused user!!

Carmarthenshire Completed Requests / HELP!!
« on: Sunday 10 February 13 15:28 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
I have reached a point, and been searching since November 2012, but still in the same situation.
I discovered in January, that I've been barking up the wrong tree; I think I've discovered that my great great great grandfather remarried between 1881 and 1901. His wife in the 1881 census was Rachel, and in 1901 his wife was Mary. Problem is that I cannot find any information about Mary at all. I've been down to the grave in Ferryside and even taken a photo of the grave, but cannot find even the death certificate whilst I have her death day, month and year. So if anyone could help it would be fantastic. Also, like suggested in a previous thread (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,623075.0.html) I contacted Carmarthenshire registry office for information about John Thomas. As I don't have much information i.e father's name and mother name they couldn't help, and that's the information I would like from his birth certificate. All I can gather from the gravestone (family gravestone) that John Thomas was a grandchild of the above (Mary Thomas) But what I can't understand on the grave is that Mary Thomas died in 1916 83 years of age and her husband died in 1943 aged 89 as from the 1901 census at Roberts Rest Farm St Ishmael there is only 6 years between them. I have uploaded the grave picture. If anyone can please help! Thanks very much.

« on: Thursday 08 November 12 12:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I am looking for John Thomas. All I have at the moment is his death certificate, all I know he died in October 18 1931 at the age of 22. He is buried at Ferryside. I think he would have been born around 1909ish! If anyone could have any leads it would be great as I'm again hitting a brick wall.

Carmarthenshire Completed Requests / Maria Thomas's Parents, Ferryside
« on: Tuesday 16 October 12 21:00 BST (UK)  »
I have managed to trace Maria Thomas's birth certificate. On it I have her parents name which is Rachel (could also be Rachel Mary) Thomas... formerly Lewis and David Thomas. She was born in Bradley St. Ishmael. I cannot find her parents' wedding certificate or birth certificate. Any help would be brilliant as I'm completely stuck.

Also on the same family.. I found on the family's grave in Ferryside a person called John Thomas that died at 22 on the 18th October 1931, TyCanol, Ferryside. I've managed to trace his death certificate, in the hope that because he died young his death would have been registered by one of his parents. But it was registered by his uncle William. Is there a way to find out his parents and if his parents had more children? My hunch it would be the son of John Thomas but he died fairly young of TB. Any help again would be gratefully received, as I've hit a brick wall.

Thank very much!

Pembrokeshire / Black Parish
« on: Friday 10 August 12 17:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I hope you can help me!! I am looking for my great great grandfather called John Davies, born in 1859. According to the 1901 census he lived in Llangeler, but where born is Black Parish, Pembrokshire. If I was to order his birth certificate, what would I put down as place of birth as I belive Black Parish is Mynachlog Ddu? I can find him in the 1901 census as being born in Black Parish easily... but censuses before I can't find Black Parish on any census. Where could he be?? Or what could have been written down?

Cardiganshire / Edward Davies, Cilcennin
« on: Friday 03 August 12 20:09 BST (UK)  »
I am looking into my family tree, and I believe my great grandfather father came from Cilcennin. I don't have much information.. apart from his name which is Edward Davies (my father is named after him and been told there are a lot of Edwards's name in the family!!) and he had two children.. John Evans Davies and Joseph Evans Davies. All I know he was a farmer and was still alive in 1920 for his son's John wedding.
If anyone could tell me anything about him.. wife, when he was married, birth it would be brilliant.
Thanks for your time in advance.

Carmarthenshire / Wedding of Maria Thomas
« on: Friday 03 August 12 20:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi there. Can someone help me find the wedding of Maria Thomas, she was born in St.Ishmael, Carmarthenshire and I know from looking at her gravestone she married a Davies, but what I can gather she's been buried in the family grave without her husband.  Her date of birth is 1884 and death date 1959. I can see in 1911 she was still single and living in Tycanol Ferryside I had no idea if they had children or not.

Also, I am looking for her mother and fathers wedding... Mary Thomas (no idea her maiden name) and David Thomas, David was born in St. Peter's Carmarthenshire (1855) and his wife Mary Thomas 1849 in St Ishmael. All I can gather from the census that they were quite late in life getting children and both were farmers. In 1901 I knew both lived in Roberts Rest farm, St Ishmael.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Wiltshire / Grandmother.
« on: Friday 03 August 12 11:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi there. I am looking for my grandmother's death certificate, I believed she died in Trowbridge along with her children (Paul I think one of them was called) and has been buried in Trowbridge. My grandmother committed suicide in 22nd Febuary 1967 in Trowbridge and has been buried with her children and would there been an inquest. Also I would be grateful if you could point in me a direction of an obituary about her. My father has never talked about her. I have found her birth certificate and the marriage certificate of her first wedding. Her name on death would be Aeronwen Gwendraeth Hopkins (maiden name Davies)
Thanks very much
