London and Middlesex / Birth Record for Elizabeth RICHARDSON (1881)
« on: Friday 05 March 21 10:35 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find reference to an actual birth record (or baptism record) to confirm details of
Elizabeth Anne RICHARDSON
Married Name: Elizabeth NAYLER

Born 4 May 1881  (date taken from 1939 register)
Death 4 May 1958 (Ladywell Cemetery – gravestone says 77 years)

I am unsure where she was born

I have posted about her before (about 10 years ago) and since then have been able to locate a marriage certificate.  Still trying to confirm birth and family.  A birth day (4 May 1881) can now be seen on the 1939 register.

Documents I am certain relate to her as below

1939 Register
Elizabeth A NAYLER
22a Arica Road Brockley
DoB: 4 May 1881
Widow

1911 Census
4 Arica Road Brockley
Age: 28
Birthplace: London

1901 Census
14 Chapters Chambers
Age: 20
Birthplace: Harts Southampton (?? I think ??)

Marriage 30 Dec 1900
Age: 21
Address: 14 Chapters Chambers
Father: James RICHARDSON (Engineer)

Her marriage certificate shows Elizabeth “ANNE” Richardson.
My grandfather (Elizabeth’s son) always thought her name may have been Elizabeth “HANNAH” Richardson

I am not aware of any other details such as mother’s name or siblings.
I was told years ago she never wanted to discuss her family and none were ever seen or heard from.

Any help or ideas appreciated.  I am hoping I do not need to order all the birth certs for Elizabeth Richardsons....

Lancashire / Low Hill Cemetery Transcriptions
« on: Monday 01 March 21 05:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have a Joseph JAMIESON who was buried in Low Hill Cemetery in Aug 1885.

The burial register shows
Death: 20 Aug 1885
Burial: 23 Aug 1885
Running No: 46353
Grave No: 4339

I understand this is now a public garden (since 1914) but also read an article which said in part...

"While the headstones were removed, the inscriptions for each of them were transcribed and are available at the Liverpool Record Office."

Does anyone have access to these or can they be accessed online?

I am not certain he had a headstone but is one of the few on the burial register page with a stated occupation of "Publican"...if that makes a difference!

Thanks for any help

London and Middlesex / RAYSON - Trying to locate 1891 Census
« on: Sunday 28 February 21 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate the 1891 census record for John Henry RAYSON (b1853)

There are a number of previous posts from myself and others about births etc but I have been unable for many years to  locate the 1891 census.  I have outlined below a timeline of addresses from 1881 census through to 1901 census.

In 1891 the family would have been:
John Henry RAYSON (b1853)
Spouse: Annie RAYSON [NELSON] (b1861)
Married 4 Feb 1883 (Bermondsey)
Daughter: Alice Martha RAYSON (b1884)
Daughter: Lily Louisa RAYSON (b1888-d1888)
Daughter: Dorothy Kate RAYSON (b1889)

1881 Census
Occupation: Lighterman
11 Lucy Road, Bermondsey
Spouse: Eleanor

23 October 1888
Lily’s Baptism
71 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe

1890 Electoral Register
71 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe

26 August 1895
Dorothy’s Admission to Colls Road School
6 Clifton Crescent
Alice’s Admission to Colls Road School
60 Clifton Crescent

1 July 1897
Dorothy’s Admission to Colls Road School
18 Studholm Street

1901 Census
Occupation: Lighterman
13 Beaufort Square, Bath
Spouse: Anne
Daughter: Dorothy (b1889)

Assistance in tracking down this record would be appreciated.

I am coming back to this research after many years so hopefully there are more records available that can assist.  I have tried everything I can think of.

Thanks

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Dryhurst GERMAN - 1891 Census Record??
« on: Saturday 23 January 21 06:50 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to locate the 1891 census record for (Edwin) Dryhurst GERMAN. In the early years he went by the  Dryhurst with Edwin emerging in later records.

He was born 26Jul1885 in Tottenham Court (Ref PANCRAS SEP 1885 1b 41)
His mother died 4Dec1887 (Ref CHELSEA DEC 1a 264)
His father (Edwin Hughes GERMAN) remarried 1890 Bethnal Green (Ref Q2 1890 1c 593)

The story was his father abandoned him and he joined the army at age 14 in Jul 1900.  I have the records for this.

I have recently found a workhouse record with an admission date of 1Sep1891 and discharge date of 20Jul1900 – the day he enlisted in the army.   This record is for Southall School and lists him as “deserted”.

Detail
London Metropolitan Archives; London, England; Reference Number: STMBG/192/01
Source Information
London, England, Poor Law School District Registers, 1852-1918

He is not listed on his father’s 1891 census record
(RG12/256/57 p 21

Any help in tracking down his 1891 census record would be appreciated to see where he was prior to the Southall School

Thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with Address
« on: Tuesday 07 August 18 13:21 BST (UK)  »
Hopefully an easy one...

I can work out most of this baptism record (St Mary Magdalene, Peckham) but would like some help with the "address" details.

It looks to me like "3 Leudo Street Cemetery Road" but i cannot find any reference to such streets.

Thanks for any help.

Where would these burials have taken place and would i generally expect to find anything like a headstone.  I do not have specific details other than what is on the register available online

I am visiting in Lancaster and wondered if it is worth going to have a look?

Any help or opinions appreciated

London and Middlesex / UK Obituary Notices
« on: Sunday 27 August 17 13:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone....

Hopefully an easy question for someone...

Is there are general website with obituary details for the UK for deaths since 2000?

In Australia we have the Ryerson Index so I am hoping there is something similar for the UK (specifically around Greater London)

Thanks

Hi everyone

I have seen some wonders in terms of clean ups and photo restores.

Would really appreciate if someone could do something with this photo of my Nan and her two sisters.

Would say it is from about 1924-5 and had been folded up for quite a while.

Any improvement on what we have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
