« on: Tuesday 12 May 15 01:39 BST (UK)  »
does anybody know what hospital/s were in existence in Rhayader in the early 1940's? A hospital where a child might have gone to, possibly to be treated for Scabies as an inpatient?

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for help please. I recently attended the WDYTYA - Live at the NEC, I had a great show, very successful info' gathering time.
While at the show someone looked up for me on RootsIreland.ie and appears to have found the baptism of Mary Ryan (1837-1901).
Mary was baptised on 4th May 1837. Parish/District was Pallasgree / Tamplebredon. I understand that this parish crosses between Limerick & Tipperary. Parents were John Ryan, farmer & Johanna Welsh. Godparents were: Terrence Meagher & Margaret Hogan. Roman Catholic religion.
Mary Ryan went to Australia, I'm not sure when or whether she travelled directly or via Liverpool or whether she travelled alone.
On the 31st October 1865, in Australia she married William George Finch (1834-1907) in Ipswich Queensland. Witnesses were Robert G Oxford & Susan Oxford. They had a daughter Adeline Finch(30th July 1867 - 11 Aug 1889) born in Grantham, Queensland.
By 4th Jan 1870 when their second child was born the family had returned to London.
I am looking to go backwards for further Irish information about Mary's parents, birth location, her travel to Australia & possibly their return to London. If anyone has access to appropriate sites I would appreciate further information or direction, thanks.

Radnorshire / WW11 Evacuees to Mid-Wales - New Radnor area?
« on: Sunday 19 April 15 18:33 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know of 2 evacuees that came from the Liverpool area about 1940/41, or once L/pool was bombed.
Alice Woods (born 1930) who was about 11yrs old, she has died now. She may have been accompanied by a much younger female cousin?
I think they might have arrived in the New Radnor area? I'd like to find out whether they were accommodated together initially?
I know that the younger cousin went back to the L/pool area some time later.
Alice moved to stay on a farm in the Glascwm area with a Lewis family.
Would appreciate any info', in anticipation many thanks.

London and Middlesex / Woods Family on Wade Road, Custom House, 1920's - 1940's
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 13:21 BST (UK)  »
This might be a long shot?

Does anyone have any memories of the Woods Family that lived at 18 Wade Road, Custom House, West Ham. They lived there from the early 1920's to at least mid-1940's.

They were a large family:-
Adeline Elizabeth (nee Finch) Woods [1893 -1973] married to David Percy Woods [1888-1931]

There were 8 children. The father David Percy worked in the docks. I don't know what the children worked as.

Thanks

London and Middlesex / 1930's Primary School for Wade Road, Custom House, West Ham.
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 11:47 BST (UK)  »
My mum lived on Wade Road from 1930 until she was evacuated early 1940's. I was wondering what primary school she was likely to have attended?
Does anyone know what school children on Wade Road in the late 1930's would have gone to?

I haven't seen a map to see what schools were located near by, anyone with a map?

I see one photo of Wade Road was posted earlier in Jan 2012 on Paul1's post "Re: Marriage William J Roots/Elizabeth?".
Any other photographs of Wade road or the school out there?

With anticipation, Thanks
Ithon
