United States of America / McKane families in New Jersey
« on: Thursday 20 March 14 03:06 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for a branch of my family who, I believe lived in New Jersey in the 1930-1940s. In the 1930 Census for Paterson NJ it has a Francis Richard McKane, his wife Anne Collins McKane and daughter Annie/Anna McKane, Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. 1940 has Annie married to a Joseph Zartler. I believe this family to originated from Banbridge County Down, immigrated to USA. I know nothing after this. I don't even know if I have the correct family. A cousin of mine in Canada had a letter from NJ in the 1960's from Manchester Ave or Wayne Ave NJ. Could it be that it is too old or too far away for anyone to remember. Anything at all will be wonderful.

« on: Monday 09 December 13 03:54 GMT (UK)  »
I have a Matthew Answer who died 24/6/1864 and he was with the 5th Regiment of Foot. I also 2 other Mathew and Matthew Answers who served in the Army, a father and son, both were discharged in Ireland. This other Matthew who died ,is a puzzle as he came up from the UK Hospital Chelsea Pensioner registers of Soldiers served in Canada 1743-1882.
Can you help me find out who he was fighting on 24/6/1864? Also why would he be registered as served in Canada?

Cork / Bridget Answer/Anser wife of Corporal Mathew Answer 5th Regiment of Foot.
« on: Friday 06 December 13 10:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. I am looking for the maiden name of a Bridget Answer or Anser. I believe she could have been Irish and that she married a Corporal Mathew Answer from Wellingore Lincolnshire while his Regiment may have been stationed in County Cork sometime before 1834.
I have been chasing her through Lincolnshire, Dover, Portsmouth, Co Mayo and Co Meath with the help of the researchers here at Roots Chat. com. I honestly do not know where she was born or what her name was before her marriage.I estimate she died between 1843 and 1851 only because her last child ,James was born in 1835 and in the 1851 census her husband was a widower.
If anyone recognises the name as family ,would it be possible for someone to go to the Parish Church and see if there is a birth for Matthew Answer around 1st December 1835 and maybe the marriage of Mathew and Bridget some time before. Thankyou

Mayo / Bridget Answer from co Meath

I am searching for the maiden name of Bridget Answer, could be spelled Anser, who married a Mathew Answer from Lincolnshire some time around 1835. She was the mother of Matthew born 1835, Mary Ann born 1838, Elizabeth born 1841 and James born 1843. I was told she died in 1844 and so she may have but her niece on Mathews' side of the family also died in 1844. If you could help me with a Parish record look up I would be very grateful.
