Essex Lookup Requests / TS Exmouth
« on: Wednesday 12 July 17 01:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm looking for some pointers to where to look next in a search!

I'm looking for a Hector Chalmers who was admitted to the TS Exmouth in 1914. I have his record log but it only has his admission date on it, no discharge or service etc.

I loose him until he marries in 1923. He seems to have gained a profession as a steel erector/scaffolder during this time.

Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Norfolk / John Smith Durrant - Missing years 1828 - 1851
« on: Friday 08 February 13 16:59 GMT (UK)  »
I'm currently researching my family tree and am trying to locate a John Smith Durrant from Norfolk. I have his birth and marriage but he then seems to disappear around 1828. I have a removal order of his wife and two children from Saham Toney to Watton in this year which mentions him but doesn't state he is moving with them.

His wife then turns up in 1840 in Hackney, London claiming to be a widow and marrying again (I have checked everything and it is the right person).

However here comes the confusing bit - he turns up again in the 1851 census with his wife, the child from the wife's second marriage (the second husband dying) and a couple of more kids to boot.

I'm at a loss as to where he could have gone and why his wife would think him dead.

Please help I am actually losing sleep over this!  ;D

Kent Lookup Requests / Mark Swaisland in Platt/Wrotham
« on: Monday 05 November 12 21:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I'm looking into a Mark Swaisland born abt 1790

The first record I have of him is the 1841 Census with his wife and sons in St Mary's Platt. But I cant seem to get any further. I've looked on the IGI files and the only Mark on there is his son.

Can anyone help me get back that bit further or recommend where to look please?

I'm also trying to find the maiden name of his wife Sarah.

Thanks
Emsey
