Hello...

Would it be possible to have a look-up in the following item. Hopefully there is some sort of index :)

WO 22/277
Army and other pensions paid out locally in New Zealand - June 1875

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/details?Uri=C168800

I'm looking for a pensioner by the name of George THOMAS, regimental number 1989, late of the 70th Foot. He was discharged in Auckland, NZ in September 1863 but there doesn't seem to be any Army Pension Books for that period. Hopefully he was still alive and receiving a pension in NZ in 1875.

It's possible that he may have returned to Co.Antrim by mid-1878. If he turns up in the above 1875 Pension Book would it be possible to see if he's still in NZ in late 1877.

WO 22/286
Army and other pensions paid out locally in New Zealand - September 1877

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/details?Uri=C168809

As I said earlier, hopefully there is an index. If not, feel free to call time :)

EDIT:

Could I also ask one additional favour.

Would it be possible to look at the following item and give me a rough description of what it contains.

WO 246/19
Royal Hospital Chelsea: Letter books - Volume 19
8 Aug 1867 to 1 Oct 1869

http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/SearchUI/details?Uri=C169642

I'm trying to find what I think is an "Army Form No.31" dated 9 Sept 1868 which mentioned an increase in the pension of George THOMAS.

The "Army Form No.31" may have the reference number "G35649". Hopefully the above Letter Book contains lots of different army forms, all organised by reference number.

For what it's worth, the prefix "G" covered the mid-1860's to the early 1870's so the reference number may simply be "35649".

Many thanks

Europe / Danish baptism register question (complete)
« on: Sunday 14 April 13 01:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello...

I was looking through the Fodslette baptism register and came across a 1738 birth which looked promising. However there is a cross next to the name. I had always thought that a cross signified the child died young (pre-confirmation?). Does anyone know if this is correct.

I know that one solution is to search through the corresponding death register but at the moment I'm just sketching out a tree and the death register is huuuuuge.

Have also had a look for a death on LDS but nothing sticks out.

For the record, here's a link to an image of the register entry...

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0thr/

and here's the original page reference from Arkivalieronline....

Amt: Svendborg
Herred: Langeland Sønder
Sogn: Fodslette
Kirkebog: Tryggelev - Fodslette
Fra: 1709
Til: 1777
Opslag: 89

While I'm here, does someone mind helping me out with the translation please. Here's my guess....

18th Sunday after Trinity, Hans Jorgensen's something daughter Anne something something something Sophia... (who I'm hoping is the mother) and then the godparents which look like Hans Christiansen, Jorge Nielsen, Hans Christiansen's daughter and the rest is all greek to me.

Thanks

Europe / NORWAY - Drammen birth record for Daniel HENDRIKSON
« on: Friday 15 February 13 21:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all...

I'm trying to find a Norwegian birth record which corresponds to the following 1881 crew list...

Daniel HENDRIKSON
Age:24
Birthplace: Drammen

http://www.rootschat.com/links/0sxs/

I've had a look on Digitalarkivet but with no success. I was wondering if someone with more Norwegian experience would mind having a look as well. It's very possible that I've missed the obvious.

Many thanks

Hi all...

If anyone is planning on visiting Auckland Library would he/she mind having a look at the following CD. It's located on the 2nd floor in the Family History area.

Ships and seafarers of Atlantic Canada
http://search.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz/?itemid=|library/marc/supercity-iii|b2514920

The on-line surname index for the CD says that HENRICKSON is included on the CD, plus a few variants e.g HENRICKSEN/HENRICKSSON etc

Hoping against hope that Dan/Daniel HENRICKSON or Anton/Anders/Andrew HENRICKSON is mentioned on the CD.

Absolutely no hurry.

Many thanks

Australia / **COMPLETED** BDM question...thanks
« on: Sunday 20 January 13 22:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all...

In New Zealand when purchasing a B, M or D certificate we have the choice between a scan of the relevant register (known as a printout) and a transcription of the register (known as a certified copy). Is there the same option in Australia, in particular WA.

There is a certified copy of a WA marriage certificate which I think has transcription errors. I would like to view the actual marriage register from which the info was taken.

Hello,

Would some kind soul be able to take a photograph of the following page please.

Page 266 of "Warrants issued under the Industrial Schools Act 1882 - October 1884 - January 1885"

It should correspond to Anastasia KING.

Absolutely no urgency at all :-)

Hello...

Would anyone be able to see if there's a school record for Thomas KING b.1879 and his two sisters Margaret b.1881 and Anastasia b.1883. They were all born and raised in Wellington.

From about 1885 onwards there were no parents around so I wondered who their guardian was. Their father was also named Thomas KING. He died in 1884. Their mother was Anastasia KING m.s MAHER d.1891

The sisters were at St Josephs Industrial School until 1887 then were "boarded out".

They may even have had a younger brother born c.1887 although I'm not sure who the father was.

Any help appreciated.

Hi all...

Would some kind soul be able to have a quick look at the following bankruptcy affadavit and see if there are any family details mentioned. Ideally a street address in Wanganui or Wellington. A mention of family members would be expecting too much but who knows.

Not too concerned with the list of assets, not that there were many by all accounts.

There's no need for photographs (unless that's easier for the looker-upper)

And there's absolutely no urgency whatsoever :-)
