Mayo / Michael Hunt - Carracastle
« on: Saturday 28 September 13 14:52 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the above man who was killed in the Great War.
This is what I know about him.
Born about 1875-1880 in Carracastle, the son of Thady and Mary Hunt of Doocastle, Mayo.
Enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery at Sheffield before the war.
Died of wounds 30.10.1914 aged 34 or 39 in Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow and is buried in Glasgow. (Commonwealth War Graves say 39 years old and the hospital death record says 34) Definitely the same man though.
Doesn't appear to have married?

I am trying to link him to a memorial in Bebington, (was Cheshire, now Merseyside) I would like to know if anyone can add anything else about him. In particular his occupation, and did he work in England before joining the army?
I also know that he is named on a war memorial in Mayo (under the Carracastle names)

This is a last throw of the dice for me, so any expert Irish help would be very greatly appreciated!

Cheshire / Wilson family - Bebington
« on: Thursday 30 May 13 17:44 BST (UK)  »
This is my first post on RootsChat, so apologies in advance if I mess up!

I am trying to find information on a family by the name of Wilson living in Spital, Bebington at some point between 1911-1923
I am afraid that this is all I know :
Mr & Mrs Wilson of Smithy Cottage, Spital, Bebington (Cheshire at that time) - this address is correct between 1920-1923 approx.
they had a son Herbert Wilson who died between 1914 and 1923

They do not appear on the 1911 census or census summary for 1911.
Can anyone offer any assistance, given the scant information I am able to give?

Thanks, BillyH.
