Warwickshire / BRICKWALL: Samuel Barrett
« on: Sunday 08 October 17 06:42 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find birth and parents of Samuel Barrett born about 1795. His marriage record shows he was married to Elizabeth Price in 1818 at Aston Juxta, Birmingham, Warwick. Parents names were not on marrige record. I don't know if he was born there though. Samuel and Elizabeth were living in Bridgnorth, Shropshire when they started their family. Would appreciate some help as I'm totally stuck.

Australia / BRICK WALL - Samuel Barrett
« on: Saturday 07 October 17 05:42 BST (UK)  »
I've done a query on my Australian Barrett family before - William Price Barrett and his family but I've come up against a brick wall in getting beyond his father Samuel Barrett in England. I can't find Samuel Barrett's birth place and parents. I know he was married on 16 Feb 1818 to Elizabeth Price, Aston Juxta, Birmingham, Warwick, England. They were living in Bridgnorth, Shropshire when they had their children. I've found a copy of their marriage but their parents names were not on it. Hoping on some advice on where to go from here.

Australia / immigration: stapleton james

I'm having trouble finding the record of when Stapleton James came to Australia. He was born 1833, Somerset, England. He was only a youth when he came out. I've not found him on any passenger lists from 1847 onwards. He married Mary Norrell in Adelaide in 1853. I think he went to Burra, South Australia straight after arrival - so assuming he arrived in South Australia. Would appreciate any help.

Australia / MISSING PERSON: Sincere Amelia Lamb (ggrandmother)
« on: Sunday 16 March 14 03:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi chatters. In 2013 I found some great info on the Lamb family on RootsChat. I am once again asking for help. My ggrandmother Sincere Amelia Lamb seems to have disappeared. She was born in New Norfolk, Tasmania in 1842. Her sister Amelia Lamb was born in 1844. Father: Francis Lamb Mother: Amelia Lamb. My ggrandmother Sincere gave birth to my grandfather, Charles Barrett in 1874 in Adelaide. Father to Charles, Henry George Barrett. I have not found any record of marriage between Sincere and Henry. I have been unable to find any record of Sincere since my grandfather was born in 1874. She seems to have vanished. GGrandfather Henry married Emily Searle in Adelaide in 1881 and died in 1883. Would appreciate any help in finding out what happened to Sincere and who raised my grandfather Charles. Thanks Shally

I have interesting ancestors who were classified as doctors, chemists, surgeons, etc as they sold remedies for worm treatment and I'm not sure what else. They were also cabinet makers and inventors and a couple were transported to convict colonies in Australia which is where I'm from.
They appeared to move around a lot throughout England over the years. I'm looking for information, articles and hopefully photos of my very interesting family. I do have some info but would love to find articles, etc to put with their life stories. I have no family photos beyond my grandparents. My ggg grandparents names are: Richard Lamb and Sincere Hancock. Hence the variation in name use through their life. Hope I have chosen the right section to post this as they move3d quite regularly. Thanks

Parents Francis and Amelia Lamb. I think she also had a sister called Amelia, b: abt 1844
Also trying to find record of Francis and Amelia's marriage
I'm pretty sure Francis was a convict, sent out 1834, 7 year sentence, ended up at Port Authur
Thanks

« on: Saturday 02 March 13 06:28 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me how to get Tasmanian bmd records online - seems impossible. I'm trying to research Sincere Amelia Lamb, born Tasmania (I think) 1842. Parents are Francis Lamb and Amelia Temperance Lamb. If anyone has any info on this family or can tell me how to get records, I'd be grateful. Thanks

Australia / William Price BARRETT
« on: Friday 04 January 13 05:40 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out when William Price Barrett immigrated to australia. I think it must have been between 1851 and 1855 as he and wife Caroline had a son in South Australia in 1855. I'm pretty sure they had two sons before they came to Australia - (William Charles and Henry George). The info I've found here in South Australia is very vague. I'm looking for any info about this family as I think this is the line I'm related to. If anyone has info on this Barrett family I'd be extremely grateful as there seems to be a lot of brick walls. I'm trying to verify if William Price Barrett's son Henry George Barrett is my great grandfather.
