Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / SPENCERS of ENGLAND or IN(former)Brit Empire
« on: Wednesday 30 January 19 07:50 GMT (UK)  »
CALLING On ALL "Spencers" to DO a DNA test --a "y-line" (yDNA), if you are a Male born w/ the last name of Spencer. Or, if you are a Spencer female, then you can do one of two (or both) things. 1) to "prove" your Spencer last name IS "Spencer" AND to Put "your" Spencer family into its correct biologically-related Spencer group, you need to get a Spencer MALE of your family (a brother, your father, grandpa, uncle, his male child (your 1st cousin), etc.), to take the yDNA test, and to take it via the FamilyTreeDNA (Spencer) group test, at: FamilyTreeDNA.com. The Group DNA co-ordinator, is: Floyd Spencer, whose email is: removed Or, as a female born Spencer, you also could take an "autosomal" DNA test--such as FamilyTreeDna.com 's, "FamilyFinder"--which looks at your Dad's Spencer side AND your Mom's maiden name's info.
THE REASON I am ENCOURAGING All "Spencers" to DO these DNA tests, IS--that the 4 brothers line is TRYING to FIND "Other" of our BLOOD Cousins---especially Those of descendants whose ancestors chose to REMAIN IN ENGLAND, (or emigrated ELSEWHERE w/in the British Empire), in 1630 when the 4bros. LEFT England then. Also this Helps EVERY Other family of Spencer-named people, to group them into THEIR own blood-related Spencer families--and most people possess paperwork on Their lines, so it advances your knowledge of Your history, as well! Another "facet" of having all Spencers DNA-tested is that we can ALSO Find WHERE All the various Spencer families DISPERSED To, around the World, esp. w/in the (then) far- flung British Empire. We ALL may find "cousins" in every place, from South Africa, to Hong Kong, or Australia, New Zealand, India, or who knows? PLEASE "Spencers" take a DNA test--it would SOLVE So many questions & issues. And it is PAINLESS--just a swab of the inside of your cheek cells, inexpensive (from $59-$100-ish), quick (you get Your "results" online (in a password-protected account YOU create)--And PRIVATE, as you are referred to online ONLY by a KIT#, NOT Your NAME! So I really hope ALL "Spencers" will take this Journey! (The reason I am pointing everyone to the company of "FamilyTreeDNA.com", is that They've been doing this the Longest (since 1999) & have one of the larger data-bases, as well as are the ONLY Company having a special Spencer GROUP test which PUTS you IN your correct Spencer family blood-related group of Your genetic Spencer cousins! I hope people will be enthused to take advantage of this GREAT TECH TOOL to Solve your "brick walls", gain further-back Ancestral knowledge of your own Spencer kin, AND connect-up (Only, later, IF you wish) w/ other of your Spencer new-found family! Thanks for reading! Take Care, "Cousin" Vienna (Spencer)

« on: Friday 07 April 17 09:11 BST (UK)  »

ANY HERTS. SPENCERS TODAY IN UK, or their line WAS in Herts./Beds.?
Searching for any SPENCERS in UK today, who still have Spencer last name (or was your maiden or your mom's maiden or dad's mom's maiden name),and are OF Herts. or Beds. either still today OR had Herts./Beds. Spencers in the past.

Were your Spencers, any who lived in these towns?--in Herts.--St.Albans, or Hitchin? Or in Beds.--Blunham, Pavenham, Kempston, Edworth, Stotfold, or Bigglesworth/wade?

Do any of your Spencers bear the 1st names of Gerard, Geoffrey, Michael, Daniel, Andrew, Charles, Thomas, William, over and over again, down thru time?

If you don't know your Spencer history but Think you might "fit" the above bits, get in-touch. I have lots of Old Spencer info, pix, stories, etc. to exchange / share.

Hope to hear from either BRITS in UK today OR from a line of former British Spencers, NOW in former Colonial British outposts---i.e.- So.Africa, Australia, New Zealand, etc.

Thanks so much,

Seek to connect w/ any current day persons still surnamed (or was their Maiden name, or their mother's maiden name or their Dad's mother's maiden name), today, who either know some of their Spencer heritage (like back to their grand or great-grandparents Spencer), or would like to know more about their Bedfordshire Spencers.

If you happen to have taken a y-line (males only) surname DNA test, & ended-up w/ the Haplotype of E1b1b (aka: M-35) you will be a "match" to my particular Spencer group. There are hundreds of separate un-related by blood Spencer families, hence Why DNA testing is a boon to researchers Trying to find-out to Whom they belong, as those taking the tests who end-up in Your specific family group usually possess papers that can assist you in going further back w/ your line, perhaps even many generations, providing you names of individuals as well as locations & dates. (FamilyTreeDNA.com has one of the largest Spencer group databases, & have been testing Spencers the longest of all the companies doing these tests).

If your Spencers lived in Bedfordshire, esp. the towns of Biggleswade, Blunham, E(a)ton-Socon, Cople,
Edworth, Stotfold, or other small towns w/in Beds.county, or even nearby Hertfordshire towns of Hitchin or St. Albans, you may be of my particular Spencer group.

Also first names of Geoffrey, Gerard, Wright, John, Charles, Robert, William, Thomas, Daniel, Michael,
Henry, Andrew, were commonly used for our Spencer males, over & over, down through time.

I have much information, genealogy charts, Old Spencer pictures, etc. to exchange / share w/ others if they happen to be of my Spencer lines.

Hoping to hear from British SPENCERs today who have some history in Bedfordshire or think they might, or were perhaps earlier from Northamptonshire or Hertfordshire regions.

Thanks for your time in reading, considering all this!

Take Care,

Vienna Spencer

Warwickshire / Seek: SPENCER (JEWELLERS) OF BIRMINGHAM Family today
« on: Monday 09 May 16 07:36 BST (UK)  »
Would like to FIND some DESCENDANTS (still surnamed Spencer, today, or was their Maiden name) of the "Spencers in Birmingham", who were/ are still today, Jewellers/Jewelers.

The Spencer jewellery family of Birmingham has been traced back to the mid 18th century.  These Spencers were the first to machine-cut diamonds in England.

There is a Spencer, who trained in this area, now carries out his jewellry business in Staffordshire. (His business is known as "Spencer, The Jeweller"--have attempted contact, via his website, but no response).

A branch of the family moved out to South Africa in the 1880's and settled in Port Elizabeth.

Would also love to have contact w/any descendants of the So. Africa branch, if any.

Anyone w/ suggestions or connected to these folk, please get in-touch!

Thank u so very much,

Sincerely,

Vienna Spencer

Bedfordshire / Seek british SPENCERs today! Any SPENCER cousins out there???
« on: Saturday 27 December 14 08:03 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking an exchange of genealogical info, and /or Old SPENCER (emailed) images, and /or (possible, eventual) friendship (only if mutually wanted), as I am an American SPENCER searching for our U.K. Spencer COUSINS, who TODAY Still possess SPENCER as their surname (or was your maiden name). We Know you all exist, but we have All been LOST to one another, through time & distance.

IF you KNOW your SPENCER Ancestry to somewhat further back, and /or you believe you may either descend from Spencers who either came out of Bedfordshire or perhaps the counties of Leicestershire, Warwickshire and /or Northamptonshire, I'd love to hear from you! I have MUCH Spencer info/pix to share, in exchange!

Those who may have the following within their line, are even more likely to be OF the particular line of Spencers I am trying to locate: 1) If the first names in your male Spencers, tend to be: William, Charles, Thomas, Robert, George, John, or Geoffrey, over and over, you may be of same line as I & my other American Spencer cousins.

Or- 2) If the CAREERS of Your SPENCERs tend to often be that of: Doctors, Writers, Engineers, Scientists, Professors / Teachers, Politicians, or, Inventors, then perhaps your Spencer kin are related to ours.

Also, 3)If your Spencers were Great WANDERERS, either just Loving Travel, or actually emigrating great distances --say part of your branch is still in England, but another brach headed-out to South Africa, Australia, Canada, or New Zealand, this could also be an indication of our being of the same particular blood Spencer family.

OR IF You simply would LIKE TO KNOW of WHICH (of some 20+different un-related) SPENCER Clans you DO come from, please get in-touch and I can assist on this, as is a simple way to FIND your Own SPENCERs and many of them HAVE Papers that Could help you push your line further back in time, or even to find from Whom your Spencers ORIGINATED!!

Ok, hoping to hear from All the BRITISH Spencers out there, soon!

Take Care,

Vienna Spencer (I'm from a seaside town in California)

SPENCER Ancestry? US / UK Spencers try to Link.....

Do u know your SPENCER Ancestry, or suspect you do? We Spencers in the U.S. after having done DNA found out some intriguing things. Everyone THOUGHT that ALL Spencers in America came down from the "4 brothers Spencer" who came to US c.1630 from Stotfold, Beds, UK. They were William, Thomas, Michael, Gerard Jr.--all sons of Gerard Spencer,Sr.

But the DNA testing (via "familytrees dna" services thru SHGS --ie -the Spencer Genealogical & Historical Society-ie-<www.ledespenser.org>) showed INSTEAD, that of the (now) more than 200 Spencer males tested that 85% were NOT of the "4 brothers line" and were actually All UNRELATED to 4bros. & un-related to each other.

ONLY 15% are of the "4 Brothers Spencer" (also known as the "Spencers of Bedfordshire") group.
This group almost certainly (via circumstantial, paper and dna conclusions Evidence) goes along w/ its other 3 branches of SPENCERs whom all descend down from HENRY of BADY (ie-Henry Spencer, Esq.) b.c.1385-d.1476 of Badby, Northants.

The lines down from Henry are......a)the Spencers of Althorp (Diana's line), b) Spencers of Bedfordshire (4 bros. line), and sub-branches off of those two, are.....c)Nicholas of Cople Spencers (ie- Nick jr goes to America c.early 1600s becomes GOVERNOR of VIRGINIA COLONY (his line died-out), and d)Marlborough line (ie-Winston Churchill's clan) of SPENCER-Churchills (churchill is name tagged onto their originating SPENCER surname, in honor of past deceased uncle, the last Lord Churchill-whose heir, his daughter married an Althorp SPENCER).

What we are trying to do is....have UK Spencers today, take a simple (swab inside of cheek (painless, quick, low cost (approx. $100 US) DNA test to show LINK between correct families of Spencers in UK with the same blood-related Spencers in U.S.,today.

If you take a Spencer surname (males only) y-line DNA test, and DO MATCH the 4bros Spencer group? What are you TOLD?

Only that you "match" the "Spencers of Bedfordshire" 4bros group #1. You are NOT TOLD that we ever had another former surname (like 85% of All OTHER Spencer folk are told). Why? Well, obviously LOGIC explains that THIS (4 Bros.)group of Spencers.....

are the ORIGINATORS and come down from the Original clan who introduced that name into England--ie- that of the Le Despencer group. Henry Spencer of Badby was known to have dropped the de off of in front of his last name in 1300s, and his Will was stamped w/seal of the Despencer arms (same as Diana's family uses today--as do the 4bros Spencers in US).

All the papers, dna, mirroring "looks" across all 4 lines down from Henry Spencer of Badby support this--but...

WHAT IS NEEDED TO PROVE CONCLUSIVELY w/out any further Doubt--is for some OTHER BRITISH lines of SPENCERs today-

--both from the known Marlborough and Althorp lines---but ALSO FROM OTHER NON-KNOWN TO CONNECT Spencer lines in England today TO TAKE THE DNA TEST and if they ALL end UP IN THE 4BROS GROUP---that will PROVE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL---as male y-line dna blood surname "markers" do NOT CHANGE DOWN THRU TIME.

They are passed intact from father to son ad infinitum, ie-endlessly.

Some CLUES you May BE of the particular SPENCERs we are seeking?

They were very a)political, b)high-achievers, c)entrepreneurial, d)inventors, e)doctors, f)engineers,h)builders, i)into science/medicine/teaching, or...

j) have a lot of the following traits: analytical, iconoclastic, wanderlust, inventive/ creative thinker, loved Books/reading/reseach; possessed endless Curiosity; tested at
High IQ; loved gardening or did landscape work or architecture or interior design.....any Spencer who possesses most of these traits ...

is a good candidate for Possibly BEING OF THE SPENCER LINES Sought.....

if interested in exchanging emails, old photos, info, friendship, and/or possibly doing a simple, quik, in-expensive dna test (they send u a swab u use on inside of your cheek to gather cells (painless, takes 2 seconds) and, in 3wks after u send the sample back....

u receive an info packet telling u Which Spencer group u belong to---and even if u do NOT "match" 4bros line---you end up grouped w/those u ARE BLOOD RELATED To and THEY often have paper work that you don't that will get u further back w/ your own line!

Plus you CAN (if wish) then CONNECT with (or not--if don't wish) your own blood-related Spencer cousins today!) So it's a WIN-WIN situation, but...

I wish contact with British SPENCERs whether u are or are not interested in doing the DNA testing--as it's always nice to make new friends. My direct personal email, is: (*)

(NOTE: JUST RUN ALL THE WORDS TOGETHER ABOVE, NO SPACES, FOR EACH EMAIL ADDY!- THANKS!)

thanks so much for taking time to read and respond to this--and, if u do do the dna--wouldn't it be fun to find out who u really are??? smile--bye for now--Vienna (SPENCER)
