Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could read what was written on an old headstone?  The attached photos were sent from Ireland; part of the headstone is very worn, with some of the inscription hard to read.

Has anyone had success with photo enhancing software or is there a company specializing in this?

Thank you.

Derry (Londonderry) / Sarah LAGAN - Born 1827
« on: Friday 01 February 13 22:11 GMT (UK)  »
Sarah Lagan (age 26) married John Convery (age 46) on 08 SEPT 1853 in Maghera & Killylough Roman Catholic Church.

Could John Convery be a widower at the time, faced with raising a young family, looking for another wife?  Could Sarah be either a youngish widow or a single girl who had been left behind in the initial search for a suitable husband?

I have a copy of the extract from the Registers of the Maghera & Killylough Roman Catholic Church, in the Parish of Maghera, County Londonderry, which states:

Sarah Lagan was from Brackagh; witnesses to the marriage were Francis Lagan and Thomas McClernon; Priest was Rev. James Donnelly.  No other information (i.e., ages, parents, etc.) is stated on the marriage record.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Derry (Londonderry) / CONVERY - ROCKTOWN, IRELAND
« on: Saturday 26 January 13 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching my great, great grandfather, John M. Convery (M. may be Manas or Matthew), born 1809 in Rocktown.  He married Sarah Lagan (born 1827) ion 08 SEPT 1853; together they had the following children (church records indicate Lavey Parish) :

Mary - born 1854
John - born 1855
John - born 1858
Mary - born 1859
Patrick - born 1861
William James - born 1864
Robert Henry - born 1866
Charles (my grandfather) (church records have his last name spelled "Confrey") - born 1869

John M. Convery and Sarah Lagan Convery are buried together in the Old Cemetery at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Lavey Parish.  John died on 07 JAN 1881 at age 72; Sarah died on 12 OCT 1873 at age 46.  Buried with John and Sarah is a daughter, who died on 14 JAN 1889; the daughter may be Mary Convery.

Any additional information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
