« on: Sunday 18 June 23 08:43 BST (UK)  »
 Hi Everyone,
I am looking into the past ancestry of my family history
I have found in the National Archive Newspapers, an article about James Watts of Little Hadham  Hertfordshire 1843
he was up for warrant, charged by the overseers with deserting his children in the workhouse. chargeable to the parish. he was told he could either, Jion his children in the workhouse or go to jail, he chose to Jail.
I am trying to link him to my family tree, I know my 4x Great grandfather Henry Watts came from Little Hadham then the family moved to Rickmansworth.  I am sure this James is part of the family.
Is there any way I can find information about children in Workhouse around Rickmansworth I have looked on Ancestry, but I am not sure where to look. any help would be apricated

     the  family lived

I know my grandparents Bernard & Ethel Watts had a market garden in Low street Sancton East
Yorkshire, the house was known firstly as ATLAS HOUSE, then as RED HOUSE.
They also had A dairy at  CHAPEL FARM on Kings Street Sancton.
another property they had was known as GOLDIE HILL also in Sancton.

I would like to know a little about the background of these properties, and about the people that previously owned them, Just to be able to add to the family history,  from what I have been told about Chapel Farm, the man that used to live there by himself fell down the servant's stairs and died.   we lived there when I was a child before moving to Australia.  any information or help  anyone could give me would be great, thank you for your time

I am researching my Great Grandparents Robert and Esther Marson,
I know they lived in Sculcoats Hull in 1901, where Robert was working as a Rullyman at a mill.
then I have found them in Sancton at Atlas house Low St East Yorkshire in 1911  where  Robert was a farmer.
Then I found them still at low street Sancton as pensioners.
I cannot find any records of them in  South Newbald where they had Ash Tree Farm. I know they had the farm because My father was born at the Farm in 1924.
How would I be able to find information about the Farm in South Newbald and how long they would have lived there.
I am finding it hard to peace it all together.  thankyou for your time  :)

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Sancton East Yorkshire home guard ww2
« on: Thursday 10 December 20 06:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone I hope you all have a safe and happy Christmas,

I have been trying to find information about my Father Frank Watts,  he was born in 1924 I know he joined the home guard when WW2 broke out, he would have been about 15 or 16 years old the family lived in the village of Sancton East Yorkshire. his Uncle Horace Watts was also in the home guard with him I have a photo of them.
I know they did a lot of their training at Houghton Hall.
I am also having trouble finding records of him when he was called up for national service,   I know he trained as a gunner in Ireland,
he remained in England and was not sent overseas to fight.
I think he always felt bad because he lost a lot of his mates who were sent.
would these records still be closed? if not how could I get a copy?
Sadly my father passed away in 2013 he was 89.
thankyou for your time.
this website has been of great help in the past. :)

Family History Beginners Board / Tracing Joseph Watts born 1854-1928
« on: Sunday 08 November 20 01:39 GMT (UK)  »
I try to trace my gg-grandfather  Joseph Watts and his family between 1876-1880  Joseph was born in Rickmansworth Hertfordshire  in 1854, he married Mary Ann Castle1872  they both worked for the Beach family in the  1871 Census  living at Greenham Berkshire

Their daughter Lizzie was born about 1874 in Burghcloe  Hampshire.
My g grandfather Harry was Born in 1876 in Stirminter Marshal Dorset
his daughter Blanch was also born in Sturminster Marshal 1878.
then from 1880 the rest of the family were found in Sessay Yorkshire.
where Joseph died in 1928.
I can't find any records of the family from 1876-1880  and wondered if Joseph still worked the William Beach. who was a magistrate?
From the census in 1871 Joseph was the head servant and coachman.  is it possible to trace the family between 1876-1880
