Hi guys I'm trying to find a place named Achingal? On my ancestors marriage document it states

I'd like to find out where this place is so I could try & work out who his parents would of been. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gloucestershire / William Butt of Dursley
« on: Wednesday 08 July 15 12:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help me in the right direction as I seem to have hit a brick wall. I've managed to trace my family back to a marriage between William Butt & Elizabeth Eastmead. The document states

William Butt of this parish (Dursley) bachelor & Elizabeth Eastmead of same parish spinster were married in this church by banns this fifteenth day of September in the year one thousand seven hundred & ninety one. By me Rich  Lockley assistant. This marriage was solemnised between us Wm Butt & X the mark of Elizabeth Eastmead. In the presence of X the mark Rewben Gwinell  & Benj Hill.

Is there anyway to work out when William Butt was born & where? & who his parents are? I only have access to Ancestry & my searches aren't getting me anywhere.  Any help would be appreciated.

Craig

Hi I'm looking into my Great Grandfathers WW1 Navy Records. I've downloaded them from the National Archives but I don't really understand what ships he served on, when & where? I'm wondering if someone on here understands them a little better & could help me work it out?

Thanks for any help you can give, Craig

Hello, im wondering if someone would like to have a go at tackling this photo for me please? Id love a tidy up done of it if at all possible? & id love a colour version done as well,  I've been told that the men at the back would be in Scarlet jackets with white facings on there collars & sleaves. The man on the left would be wearing a red Sash. There trousers would be very dark blue almost black.

As for the man sat down he would be in a very dark green uniform very similar to this photo only without the gold & red pipping as he wasn't an officer.

many thanks for your help Craig

Armed Forces / Help with Regiment Identifcation please
« on: Monday 28 October 13 14:02 GMT (UK)  »

Hello im wondering if anyone might be able to help me identity which regiment the men in the back row are from? There names left to right are Albert Ernest Butt, Frank Butt, Thomas Edward Butt & George Henry Butt. The man at the front is William Butt there father, he was a colour Sergeant in the Worcestershire Regiment Volunteer Battalion.  They all lived in Kidderminster & had jobs so im assuming that they were also in a Volunteer Battalion?  Not sure if it would be the same as there fathers as there uniform looks different? Id like to know which Regiment they would of been in & if there would be anywhere i can look to find out infomation about there time in it? Maybe find out there army numbers?

Thank you for any help you can be Craig

World War One / Frank Butt WW1 prisoner of war
« on: Tuesday 17 September 13 10:32 BST (UK)  »
Hello I'm wondering if anyone can help me with finding out some information regarding Prisoners of War during WW1?
my Grandad's cousin has asked me to find out about his fathers time during WW1.
His name was Frank Butt he was born in 1887 & lived in Kidderminster until 1911 when he move to Dundee Scotland. He has a photo of him in a uniform which has a red cross on his arm so im assuming he was part of the medical corps? Also he knows that he spent time as a prisoner of war. Other then that I know nothing any hints of where to look would be great.

thanks Craig
