Lancashire / Where did Agnes go?
« on: Saturday 30 March 13 23:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Hope someone is able to help me find out what happened to Agnes.
Am trying to track one of my grandfather's sisters. Here are the details:
Name: Agnes Burrows
DOB: 5 April 1870 in Liverpool
Baptised: RC (St Francis Xavier)
Both parents dead by 1889 and in 1891 Census is living in Everton with her older brother, Joseph and younger sister, Martha.
She is no longer with them in 1901 Census.
Can't find a marriage or death for her between 1891 and 1901.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
trish

Lancashire Lookup Requests / 1861 Census
« on: Wednesday 06 March 13 08:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters
Not sure whether this is the right place to post. Am looking for Henry Moyses in 1861 Census. He was born 1840 in London, married 1869 in Lancashire. I have him in all Censuses except 1861 and 1911. (In London 1841 and 1851. And in Lancashire in 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901). He died in 1913 in Liverpool Workhouse. He had an older brother, Frederick, who married in Lancashire in 1867 and stayed in Lancashire until his death. I suspect Henry may have gone to Lancashire in the 1860s because his brother was there. Can anyone find him?

Kind regards
Trish

Hello  :)

Hope someone can help with dating attached photo - unfortunately only half the photo survives. Could be my grt grandmother (1842-1902) born in Knowsley Lancashire died Liverpool Lancashire. Or perhaps one of her daughters (1867-1914) or (1873-1957). The photo is not on paper - it's like card with plastic covering?

Thank you,

Hello to Everyone

Having trouble with maiden surname of mother on birth certificate.  It's French I think as given names are Jeanné Louise. Looks like "Goulvaus" or "Grilvaus". Have tried to find the marriage of Jeanné and William Moyses based on DOB of eldest child (William in 1827) but no luck. (In the Census of 1841 and 1851 her name is recorded as "Jane Louisa")

I think Column 1 (When and where born) reads 1pm fourteenth of August 1840. Then I can't read the next word which precedes Eaton Court.
 :-[
Also:
Any suggestions on where Eaton Court would be in London in 1840 - or where I could find out - greatly appreciated.

How would  "Jeanné" be pronounced? As
1. "Jan" rhyming with "van" with "nay" on the end or
2. like the French "Jean" with "nay" on the end?

Hope someone can help

Kind regards
Trish

Lancashire Lookup Requests / John Thomas Burrows - Death Probably Liverpool Area
« on: Saturday 16 February 13 05:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!
I am hoping someone can help with info re: the death/burial of my grandfather in the Liverpool area.

Name: John Thomas Burrows
Born: 26 April 1868 in Liverpool
Baptised RC church but married C of E church
Occupation: Manager, Pawnbroker’s

In 1911 Census living in Thorneycroft Road, Wavertree.

His wife Louisa (my grandmother) and two daughters emigrated to Australia in October 1915. Letters my grandmother wrote indicate that by Feb 1915 he had deserted the family. Louisa writes that he “must do his duty by them (even) if we are miles away. I shall have all that signed & sealed before I leave England…” I am not sure what sort of legal papers she is referring to here.

There are quite a few death records for John Burrows on BMD but of course I can’t tell whether it is the one I want so I have searched Lancashire Online PC records, the IGI and FreeReg but cannot find records of death/burial which will confirm it is him.

Hoping someone can help.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Death/Burial Knowsley or Eccleston
« on: Tuesday 12 February 13 06:27 GMT (UK)  »
Hello!
I am hoping someone can help with info re: the death and burial of Robert Taylor and his wife Ann Taylor in the Knowsley/Eccleston area. Both deaths occurred between the 1851 and 1861 Census:

What I Know:
Robert Taylor born Knowsley 19 Oct 1805.
Ann Davies (Devis/Davis) born Knowsley 24 June 1810.
Robert and Ann married in Huyton Parish 4 May 1829.
Robert's Occupation: Gamekeeper

In 1841 Census living in Eccleston with 11 of their 12 children.
In 1851 Census still living in Eccleston - 13th child has been born.

In 1861 Census the two youngest Taylor children are living with their eldest brother and eldest unmarried sister in Knowsley so I have assumed that both parents have died.

I have searched Lancashire Online Parish Clerks Project records, the IGI and FreeReg but cannot find records of death/burial.

Hoping someone can help.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Death/Burial Sophia Davis
« on: Monday 11 February 13 08:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
This is only my second post so hope I'm following all the rules!

I cannot find the death/burial of my paternal great great grandparents.
GGGrandmother: Sophia Davis
Born:c1803 in Pershore, Worcestershire

GG Grandfather: Thomas Davis
Born:c1801 in Pershore, Worcestershire

Last Link: 1861 Census - They are living "Red Hill, London Road, St Peter, Worcestershire"
Thomas is a cordwainer and Sophia is a schoolmistress.

Their son, Thomas and his wife Sophia (nee Craven) emigrated to Australia in 1859. Thomas Jnr's immigration papers indicate that his parents (Thomas and Sophia Snr) were living in Defford at the time he emigrated.

Hoping someone can help. Melbourne, Australia is such a long way from Worcester!!

Kind regards
