Yorkshire (North Riding) / Chapelry of Ronsby 1787
« on: Monday 27 February 23 08:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have found a Baptism of John Hutton in 1787 at Moorside.  Other entries on the page refer to Scaling, and another 'from the Parish of Danby'.

The heading of the page states 'A true copy of Births and Funerals in the Chapelery of Ronsby in the year 1787'.

Can anyone define more about this Chapelry of Ronsby as I can not find anything about it, but is in the area I am researching.

Thanks,  Dave.

Europe / Sütterlin script again
« on: Thursday 01 July 21 22:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys,   Another page I recently been sent, is again a pain for me. While the rest is normal German, the top 3 lines are in Sutterlin, please help me again.

I believe the first word, is the last word of a previous sentence, and therefore ignore that. Its just the 3 top lines, after which I have translated fairly well.

Thanks all,  Dave

Europe / Austrian/German. Ing. !!!
« on: Saturday 22 May 21 12:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys,

I have a funeral announcement that refers to  'Herr  Ing. Rudolf Gutmann'.  What does 'Ing.' mean before his name?  It is not a baptismed christian name, which was Rudolf Robert Gutmann.

Thanks all,  Dave

Hi Guys,  I have been sent another 8 pages from Dad's diary. While most of it is in Normalschrift style, which I can just about read and translate, he suddenly changes to Sütterlin for  8 lines. Please help me once again.

I know you like challenges,  Thanks,  Dave.

England / Wording of Parish Marriage.
« on: Sunday 11 April 21 10:00 BST (UK)  »
I have a 1832 Devon Parish marriage record that reads  '... by Banns with the consent of Friends this 24th day ...'

The other 2 on the page have nothing written in the  '... consent of ...'  line.

Would this mean that one or both parties were under the age of legal consent (which i believe was 21?)  ?

Thanks, Dave.

Hi Guys,

I have come across this photo and trying to work out who she might be. Any ideas of date and the womans age, please.

Thanks,  Dave.

Europe / More Sutterlin Handwriting
« on: Thursday 29 October 20 12:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Guys,  I am back with 3 more double pages from the diary for translation. Covering a period from 1949-1950, this was around the time my father came here from Austria.  They appear to be in Sutterlin handwriting still. I will post them 2 at a time, and ask, that as they are for information only, you do not prioritise them over other folk who need help in tracing their ancestors.

Many thanks,  Dave.

Europe / Bohemia Births early 1800s
« on: Monday 24 August 20 13:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi Guys,

I have done a bit more digging and found Johann Lotz baptism in 1835 in Bergreichenstein, Bohemia, but as usual, I can only make out so much. Born and Baptised on same day 5 Feb 1835 and was son of Johann Lotz and Susanne Huska. The link is here    http://www.portafontium.cz/iipimage/30063642/kasperske-hory-05_2610-n?x=506&y=-11&w=463&h=189 . A translation would be appreciated. His sister, Caroline,  was born a year later on 30 Mar 1836 and may help with the details as they were still at the same address  http://www.portafontium.cz/iipimage/30063642/kasperske-hory-05_2610-n?x=506&y=-11&w=463&h=189

His father, also Johann was born  19 Apr 1778 in Wassersuppen Bezirk Taus (Bohemia), I have looked for this area in Taus / Domazlice but can not find it mentioned? Does it go under another name for the District ?

Many thanks, Dave.
