Gloucestershire / Pincott, Chalford and Bisley
« on: Wednesday 06 December 17 22:47 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the parents of Benjamin Pincott who was married to Sophia Coates. I suspect they were Daniel Pincott and Anne Workman but I cannot find any proof. Benjamin and Sophia were married in 1818 and their first child was born shortly after his name being Daniel the other children were Eliza, Stephen, Betsy, Martha, John, Ann and Benjamin. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / John Shaw, Yorkshire
« on: Sunday 29 September 13 17:21 BST (UK)  »
I am doing my wife's genealogy and have hit a brick wall. Thus far I have:
Ben Albert Shaw b. 1889 I believe in Swinton.
John William Shaw b. 1846 Wales married to Mary Shepard.
William Shaw b.1822 Swinton married to Ann.
Now here is where I can't make a firm connection, I believe Williams father was a John Shaw and his mother Elizabeth just can't prove it and I did find a mention somewhere about Johns lineage,
"John son of George son of Jarvis son of William" unfortunately since I downloaded IOS7 I can't find any of my references!!!!

Any help or hints would be much appreciated. I believe that the Shaw Familiy goes back many generations in the Swinton area, just have to find those direct links.

Chrisvp

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Benjamin Pincott, Sophia Coates,Bisley
« on: Sunday 15 September 13 14:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I seem to have hit a brick wall or am looking in the wrong places for the parents of Benjamin Pincott and his wife Sophia Coates. They were married at All Saints, Bisley in 1818 and had 8 children:
Daniel 1818
Eliza 1820
Stephen 1821
Betsy 1824
Martha 1826
All the children above were born in Gloucester.
John 1828
Ann 1830
Benjamin 1834
These children were born in Middlesex.
In my family history the Pincotts were weavers and I suspect when that industry crashed they moved to London where eventually their sons Daniel and Stephen Joined the HEIC Madras Fusiliers.
If anyone has any information on the Parents of Benjamin Pincott and Sophia Coates it would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Chris

West Lothian (Linlithgowshire) / Maxwell family
« on: Thursday 08 August 13 18:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I have started doing my wife's genealogy and have hit a brick wall on finding her ancestor
William Maxwells parents. William Maxwell was married to Martha Dallas/Dallis/Daules in Bathgate West Lothian on 28 Mar. 1864. I have found their marriage record and children on Familysearch
But am unable to pin down when or where William and Martha were born.

Their Son, my wife's ancestor was George Niven Maxwell and he was born 15 May 1874 in Torpichen.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Chris

Wales / William Shaw
« on: Wednesday 07 August 13 19:21 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I have hit a brick wall searching my family so I have started my wife's family. The farthest I have been able to go is a John William Shaw born 1847 in Northern Wales according to the British census.
He was married to a Mary Sheppard in Yorkshire and was listed as a miner and on his marriage records show that his father was William Shaw. If I could get some hints on how to follow this Welsh line it would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Chris

Sutherland / Donald McIntosh, Dornoch
« on: Wednesday 31 July 13 04:09 BST (UK)  »
Well I have hit a brick wall on my Mcintosh Line. I have found my GGGG grandfather Donald McIntosh
born 1766, Sutherland married to Rachel Murray and on the 1841 census as a Pensioner in Dornoch(I am assuming Army). I think I have exhausted all avenues that are free and open to the public.
Does anyone have any hints or suggestions.
Cheers,
Chris
