New Zealand Completed Requests / Martin Barron, died 22 Jan 1924
« on: Saturday 09 September 23 12:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi. I'm trying to find out any information about Martin Barron, an Irishman, who emigrated to NZ around 1900 and died in Ponsonby, Auckland, in 1924. I've seen his death certificate. I'm particularly interested in any family members he had. However, I can't seem to get any census information.

Martin had been married to Margaret, and had five children, all of whom emigrated with him from Ireland in 1887, but to where, initially, I am not sure.
His last Will left his goods (he was a labourer) to Edward Long of Manaia. There was no mention of any family.
Many thanks
Gerry

Ireland / Emigration route for Australia in 19th century
« on: Friday 08 September 23 18:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm wondering about the route that emigrants from the South of Ireland might have taken around 1880.
I know some relatives ended up in Australia and New Zealand. I'm wondering would their route have taken any of them through the USA at all.
Many thanks for any hel.

Alderney, Guernsey, Jersey, Sark / How to get into Jersey 1970
« on: Monday 11 March 19 16:52 GMT (UK)  »
What immigration procedures would an Irishman, coming from England, have had to follow to reside in Jersey in the 1970s? Was there any record kept of those who became resident?
Thank you.

Westmeath / Any central record of land sales in Westmeath prior to 1969?
« on: Sunday 13 January 19 16:49 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out when a land sale, probably around Ballinalack, took place. I know it was in the 1950s/1960s, and probably a small holding. The family surname was Kennedy. The active seller was Noel Kennedy. Is there a central register I could search?
Many thanks

London and Middlesex / London Underground Employment records 1930s to 1970s
« on: Sunday 30 December 18 18:46 GMT (UK)  »
If such exists, I am trying to find the employment record of a relative, Martin Peter Kennedy, born in Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland on January 30th 1911. He was with London Underground, first as a porter, as early as 1938, later as a driver. Then he had an altercation of some sort, had a mild stroke and was put on ticketing duties. He later had another stroke and was, presumably retired on pension. He died in September 1979.
All guidance appreciated.
Thank you.

Dublin / Dublin to Holyhead, 1936
« on: Wednesday 26 December 18 10:49 GMT (UK)  »
Is there any way to trace the movement of passengers to Holyhead? I’m trying to find out when Martin Peter Kennedy left for England (born Clonmel, January 1911, lived in Ballinalack Westmeath, married Frances Wilson in Pancras Middlesex in 1938, died September 1979, Barney, London). His subsequent history is known to me. He worked for London Underground until debilitated by a stroke.
I think he may have fathered a child born (but not necessarily conceived) in Dublin in October 1936. The child was given a false name.
Thanks, Gerry.

London and Middlesex / Martin Peter Kennedy
« on: Wednesday 05 December 18 15:41 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out if Martin Peter Kennedy, who died in Barnett, Greater London in Autumn 1979 (England and Wales, Civil Registration death Index, Vol 11, page 175)
is the same person as the Martin Peter Kennedy, born in Clonmel, Tipperary, Ireland on 30 Jan 1911.
The dates match, but I have no other information about him in between (family members etc..).
I don't know where he is buried - that could help....
I think he married and may have had three children.
Any information appreciated.

Dublin / Cemetery information for Edward Hayden 15 Dec 1949 or Alice Hayden 9 Oct 1950
« on: Thursday 15 November 18 12:19 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know where Edward Hayden (died 15th Dec 19349) or his widow Alice (Alicia) Hayden, (died 9th Oct 1950) were buried?
Both died in Dublin, last address was 69 Tolka Rd. Both were Dubliners by birth.
I have tried Glasnevin and Fingal, without success.
Many thanks
Gerry Kane
