Northumberland Lookup Requests / Richardson Family
« on: Thursday 21 May 15 03:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi Northumberland list

I am having trouble researching Elizabeth Richardson born 24.9.1905 Northumberland and she died 1991 Wisbech.

Her first supposed marriage was to Henry Joseph or Joseph Henry Berkeley  in the 1920's I have searched but no marriage I can find.

Elisabeth Richardson and Henry J Berkeley had the following children

Roy A Berkeley 1928 Newcastle upon Tyne

Henry J Berkeley born 1930 Newcastle upon Tyne

Around the 1930's the family travelled to Cambridgeshire and there Elizabeth Richardson had another child a boy

Thomas A Berkeley in 1934 Wisbech but this child is also down as Thomas A Santry born 1934?

So I assume Henry J Berkeley must have died between 1930 to 1936 because in 1936 Elizabeth Richardson married Jeremiah Santry in Wisbech.

Jeremiah was born 1901/02 somewhere and died 1963 Wisbech

So if any one can find Elizabeth Richardson on the 1911 census or a birth I did come across a Elizabeth Ellen Richardson born Sept 1905 Newcastle upon tyne but she never used the middle name if that is her?

Any help with her first marriage or death of Henry J Berkeley or Joseph Henry Berkeley would be most appreciated.

Midlothian / Dundas Surname
« on: Monday 11 May 15 09:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello Midlothian list.

I am stuck on my Dundas family this is what I know.

David Dundas a Burgess/Merchant married an Elizabeth Wood 23.4.1704 Edinburgh parish.
Elizabeth Wood was the daughter of John Wood of Blacklaws? He was deceased by 1704.
David and Elizabeth had my Mary Dundas christened unknown but I'd say 1705 to 1710.
Mary Dundas married Alexander Blackie/Blarckie etc on 11.5.1729 Edinburgh parish and 13.6.1729 Saint Cuthburts parish.
They had a daughter Margaret Blaickie and similar spellings of the surname around 1732.
Around this time I came across a marriage of Mary Dundas also known as Blaickie marrying a James Williamson 27.12.1732 at Saint Cuthburts I am unsure if this is the same Mary of Alexander?
I will find the marriage and see if they are one and the same.
Alexander Blaickie on the marriage was a journeyman on his and Mary's certificate.
Alexander and Mary had a daughter Margaret Blarkie as she was known in 1732 I think this is where the confusion comes in.
Margaret married a Rodrick Douglas I am trying to remember the year 1763 I think?
They had a daughter also Margaret Douglas chris 1764 the problem is Margaret Douglas nee Blarkie etc is also known as Marion!
The marriage certificate shows Margaret Blarkie on the marriage certificate to Rodrick.
Marion Blaikie Chris 1747 to Alexander Blaikie and Mary Carfrae.
I asume Marion maybe to young to marry Rodrick Douglas and since Margaret is written on the certificate rather than Marion.
Is Marion a nickname for Margaret in Scotland?

Aberdeenshire / Porter family of Aberdeen
« on: Sunday 12 April 15 06:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi

This family has been a blank space on my tree so I decided to look deeper
Henry  Porter b 1.2.1789 Keithhall and Kinkell to a Alexander Porter and Janet Buchan.
I cannot find a marriage between Alexander and Janet on Scotspeople.
Henry porter was a printer by trade and married an Isobella Rutherford the daughter of William Rutherford and Margaret Dougla on the 24.6.1816 Saint Cuthberts
The Rutherfords were from Midlothian.
Henry porter married secondly a Margaret Junor and had two further children
son Francis and daughter Margaret
Margaret Porter married a Andrew Hogg 26.3.1850 Saint Cuthbertts.
Henry's children by Isobella were Clement Porter 1817 and Jane Porter.
Jane married 1 John Brown 4.2.1838 Canongate had one child a son
Married 2 Francis Sharp 13.6.1846 Saint Cuthberts.
Henry porter died 3.12.1848 Edinburgh city has his birth date as 1774 but I think that is an error.
On his death lists his age as 54 giving Henry a birth year of 1794 give or take a few years.
Have added his death from Scots people.
Can anyone help with his parents? Or even siblings?

Hi all I hope you can help me decipher the sentences after Isobella's father's name William Rutherford after that I cannot understand.
Is the word after William Rutherford Mason next to his name?
I do not own copyright image from Scotspeople Image removed by moderator

Lincolnshire / Ann Thacker
« on: Wednesday 21 January 15 02:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all just need a little help on Ann Thacker who married James Wallett 29.5.1741.
Their son was Abraham Wallett born 1744 and died 1790 he was a Vicar of Clare in Suffolk.

I have PM a person on here who is related via these people and was searcing for Wallett and Mumby/Momby of Lincolnshire.

I found a christening of an Anne Thacker 11.9.1721 in Fleet Lincolnshire to a George Thacker and Isabell/Isabella Worrell but I am unsure if this is my Ann another Ann Thacker was Christened 15.11.1724 Saint Mary Coslany, Norwich in Norfolk to a John and Mary.
Why I had a look at Norfolk was Ann married James Wallett in South Lynn, Norfolk so I'm hesitant about going up if the Lincolnshire one then this family descends from Thomas Thacker and Beatrice Westwood in the 1500's.

In the mean time I'm hoping the person I've PM will get in touch!

Devon / Hawkins of Devon
« on: Sunday 06 July 14 05:27 BST (UK)  »
Researching my hubby's Hawkins family from a Grace Hawkins born 1684 Kenn and died 1725
Her parent's were a John Hawkins Chris 20.9.1656 Kenn and Elizabeth Hayne
John's parents were a Thomas Hawkins chris 1631 Kenn and died 1723 Kenn married a Dorothy Dyer Diare born 1632 and they married 17.2.1655 Kenn
Thomas's father was a William Hawkins born around 1598 in kenn and died 1649 Kenn he married an Ann Karsewell/Carsewell born 1600 Devonshire to John carsewell born 1569 Kenn and Eleanore dyer diare born 1573 dying in 1618
I know William Hawkins is a member of the famed Hawkins branch but what line I have no idea
The William born in 1598 was a Mariner and could be either the son of
John buffyn married Blanche Hawkins their son William Buffyn Hawkind chris 15.3.1596 Saint Andrew, Plymouth
Or William Hawkins c 2.5.1599 saint Andrew, Plymouth to a William
Or William hawkins 12.2.1599 Barnstaple to a Richard
and last William c 28.8.1600 in Totnes to a William
Can anyone point me in the right direction or know more about these families
I do know the Hawkins of plymouth had many children and descendents I can see myself but what branch?
Any clue would be helpful to me doing my husbands tree

Devon / Brice family of Mamhead
« on: Sunday 06 July 14 05:09 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find more info on the Brice family
A Thomas Brice born around 1732 Mamhead and died 1811 Mamhead
married a Grace Hooper 1760 Mamhead
They had 8 children my husband descending from Ann Brice Christened 1778
Ann married a William Dey christened 1777 in Ide or Mamhead, Devon
Ann Brice died in 1844 Ide
on the 1841 census list's Ann's occupation as independent
I found her father Thomas was a printer by trade
so wondering how Ann came or how she had money?
William Dey the father of William Dey would have been born around the early 1700's and he died 1784 and married a Mary Hooper in 1772 Kenn, Devon
Was the money from the Dey's?
Ann Brice's husband William Dey junior died 1836
could the money be from his side?
At the moment I'm trying to find info about the Brices and Hoopers
Had a look at the IGI
Didn't find a Thomas around 1732 but did find 2
Thomas Brice 5.10.1726 st Mary's,  Exeter to a Thomas and Catherine
Thomas Brice 2 christened 1.1.1740 Tiverton to a John
At the monent I'm not sure either those Thomas's are my One at present
