United States of America / Stephens
« on: Friday 04 August 06 20:29 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help me find Valentine and Sarah Stephens on the 1910 census?  I have a marriage for the two from LDS in 1906 and the births of 2 children approximately in 1911, sons Paul and Lloyd.  The family would have been in Ohio, possibly in Elk Township in Noble County.  It is also possible that they were in Monroe Co.  Any help on this would be appreciated.

United States of America / carpenter/zimmerman

i need help with some German/US genealogy if possible.  I am trying to find information on a John Carpenter born most likely in the early to mid 1730s in Germany.  He immigrated to the US and married Druscilla Tomlinson in about 1761 in Maryland.  It is believed that he changed his name when he immigrated and that it had originally been Zimmerman.  He had six children, John, Robert (Robin), Anna, Daniel or David, Joseph, and Thomas.  It is believed that he died in Virginia, now West Virginia.  All of my information is from a book that I recently found on my family.  Any help finding John in either the US or Germany or any advice on where to go from here would be appreciated.

US Lookup Requests / Prison Records
« on: Tuesday 27 June 06 23:24 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information about when one of my rellies was in prison.  His name was Leslie Orian Carpenter, born 1900 or 1901, he was sent to prison in Ohio, most likely 1935 or 36.  The charge was 'white slavery' after he tried to cross the state border with a young girl (possibly a prostitute).  Any ideas?

in the 1871 census John Cottier is listed as a light keeper and in the 1881 he is a ferryboat proprieter.  Is there any way to find out which lighthouse he was at and what his boating business consisted of?
