Angus (Forfarshire) / Look up Constitition Rd Cty MI's re Isabella Mackay
« on: Saturday 08 August 15 02:40 BST (UK)  »
My gr gr gr Grandmother Isabella Mackay/McKay was buried at the Constitution Rd Cemetery in Dundee on the 23rd April, 1863.  The cemetery no longer exists as it was redeveloped in the 60's and remains were interred in the city's Eastern Cemetery.  She does not seem to appear in the ,list of headstones which were formerly at the Constitution Cemetery which, I think, was also know as the New Howff.  Does anyone have access to MIs from that cemetery or know of any other way to trace them.  I have some MI details for her, but need to check inscription to verify family research.  Very appreciative if anyone has information or ideas! Blinshall.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Look up on Angus MI's for Isabella Mackay
« on: Thursday 30 April 15 11:26 BST (UK)  »
If anyone could look up the Angus MI's for Isabella Mackay, died in Dundee on 21st April, 1863, I would be grateful.  She was the wife of Donald and mother of John.  Recent research suggests she may have a daughter, Mary, who married a William Telford.  I  would like to make sure whether Mary was mentioned on the Mon. Inscription or not as if she was it would conclusively identify the family which I have traced through census info.  Thank you, Blinshall.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Attention Loobylooayr

Hi Looby, back in Oct. 2013 you find on the Angus MI's the death of Isabella Mackay, on the 21st April, 1863.  She was the widow of Donald Mackay and mother of John.  Was there any reference to another child named Mary?  I have been trying to trace the family back through the various census records and found an Isabella Mackay plus John Mackay in the 1841 census living in Persley, Old Machar, Aberdeen  with Mary and William Telford and family.  In the 1851C Isabella, Mother-in-law is still with the Telford family.  Mary Telford was Mary Mackay born 1813, Farr, Sutherlan, parents Isabella and Donald.  However, I gather from your info that she did not appear on the Monumental Inscription.  Is this so? 1861 census has Isabella Mackay living in Dundee with widowed son, John and g'son Donald. Can you tell me which cemetery Isabella Mackay was buried at?  Thank you, Blinshall.

Angus (Forfarshire) / William Nicoll MIs Look up
« on: Sunday 01 March 15 06:31 GMT (UK)  »
My gr grandfather, William Nicoll,  married Elizabeth Boyd in 1841 at I think, Mains and Strathmartine, Angus,  They had two sons, James, born 1842 and John born 1843. In the 1851 census, Elizabeth is described as a widow.  I cannot find a death date for William and wondered if anyone with access to the MIs would be able to find him.  I do not have a birth date for him, but Elizabeth was born in 1810. Any help would be much appreciated. Blinshall.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Horatio John Salmon and Louisa Salmon, burials.
« on: Tuesday 12 November 13 09:57 GMT (UK)  »
Horatio Salmon died in Frensham, Surrey on the 23rdMay, 1887 and his wife Louisa died on the 5th May, 1885, also at Frensham.  There is no record of their burial at St Mary's, Frensham. Family lore has it that there is a Salmon family grave at Liss, so I am wondering if they could have been buried there.  A family member, Fanny Salmon, bequeathed ten pounds to the Wesleyan Chapel in Liss, so the burial could possibly have taken place there.  If anyone has any information to unlock this puzzle I would be very happy to hear from them.  Blinshall

Sutherland / George McKay and Elizabeth Gordon
« on: Friday 08 November 13 07:27 GMT (UK)  »
Isabella McKay died in Dundee in April, 1863, aged seventy six.  Her parents were given as George McKay and Elizabeth Gordon.  Her husband was Donald Mckay and her son John.  I am having trouble finding any record of her birth or of her parent's marriage.  She may have been born at Melvich, Sutherland or Caithness.  If anyone has any info re this family, I would be very grateful. Blinshall.

Surrey / Horatio John Salmon and Louisa Salmon
« on: Friday 08 November 13 07:14 GMT (UK)  »
I am not able to find burial information for these two people. Horatio John Salmon and his wife, Louisa.  Louisa died at Frensham on the 5th January 1885, and Horatio died on 23rd May, 1887, also at Frensham. Their daughter, Mary Louisa Houghton, is buried in the graveyard at St Mary's Church, Frensham in 1880 but her parents do not seem to be there.  Family lore has it that there is a Salmon family grave at Liss in Hampshire and a family member bequeathed ten pounds to the Wesleyan Chapel there, but I'm not sure of the connection. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Blinshall

Angus (Forfarshire) / John Boyd Nicoll
« on: Friday 08 November 13 06:44 GMT (UK)  »
If anyone is able to help me find a date of death for John Boyd Nicoll,I would be very grateful. He was born in Dundee on the 22nd March, 1880, his parents being John NIcoll and Ann Spence Nicoll.  In 1907 he married Agnes Stirton and they had a daughter, Agnes.  He was a seaman and a mess room steward, so I am not sure whether he would have been in Dundee at the time of his death.
