Hi,

Have a place of birth in 1909 given as Morrish School Kilninian & Kilmore.

Place of registration looks like Anitrim or Auitrim.

Anyone got any idea where the school and the registrar's office was?

Hi,

Relative gave address as Cecilton, Stewarton Drive, Cambuslang in 1915.  At another time, address was 61 Stewarton Road.

Anyone know anything about Cecilton?  Is it the same house at 61?

Any help would be great.

Argyllshire / McNiven/Islay birth 1836 in Skibba? Kibba? Hibba? Hibbe?
« on: Saturday 20 June 15 18:00 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Looking for some local knowledge about the birthplace of my great grandmother Ann McNiven in May 1836.  Difficult to read the handwriting of father's residence in the OPR but the parish is Kilchoman.

If it helps, father John was a slater and married Christian McNiven July 1830 in Kelsey/Kelsay.

Anyone got any idea where this might be/have been?

Hi,

Looking for help trying to find Mary Woods.  Been looking a very long time, with no real luck.  Any help or advice to find Mary and her family would be much appreciated. Here is what I know about her:

First name is Mary: or Margaret or Margaret Mary
Surname is Wood or Woods

Father is James Wood(s) whose occupation is a Confectioner or once he was a farmer.
Mother is Elizabeth Guire/McGuire/MacGuire or Quire or Gare (both with or without the Mc/Mac): She may have been Irish.

Mary was born in Albert Terrace, Middlesboro in 1871 or maybe 1875.....
Mary married in Inverness in October 1898 where she was a domestic servant.  She claimed that both her parents were dead at the time of her marriage.  She and her husband were Roman Catholic.

Her children were called Albert Alexander, Alfred John, Henry Edward, Samuel and Violet Mabel: the names Alexander, John and Samuel appear in her husband's side of the family; no trace of a James or Elizabeth appearing as a child's name.

Have tried census records and online trees to try to find a link but have been singularly unsuccessful.

Was wondering if Albert Terrace might have been an orphanage or workhouse where she might have been abandoned. Would anyone with local information know if this is a possibility?  Or if someone had the reference information such as piece nos to make a search of Albert Terrace that might help tracking them in the 71 & 81 census.

Once again, any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Canada / George Fleming; John D Fleming; Toronto
« on: Wednesday 01 December 10 21:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Have just confirmed that my great uncle George Fleming b. 16 Oct 1875, Glasgow emigrated to Canada with his wife Isabella nee Davidson in 1926, both aged 50.  According to the passenger lists, they were going to be living with their son John D Fleming in Toronto.

Having spent several hours trying to find obits or census information (no ancestry subscription, but hoping  ::) ), would be grateful for any website suggestions where I might find information on this family.

Thanks  :)

Hi

Looking for information for burials for those living in Torrance.  Guessing Church of Scotland as there are some OPR birth & marriage records.

Anyone know where they can be found?

Thanks,

 :)
