The Common Room / intestate rules
« on: Thursday 17 January 19 11:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Yes it happened to me!  Received a letter from a professional genealogy firm referring to a distant relative had died intestate.  Large value estate but many potential beneficiaries spread all over the globe!!  Now some 2 years on the solicitors appointed are sitting on the liquidated estate running into 6 figures,  can somebody advise if the money held by the solicitors will attract interest and at what rate?  I am the appointed administrator.         The genealogy firm are still chasing potential beneficiaries and say this process could go on for years!  Is there a time limit?

Thankyou in advance for any help

Mike.

« on: Tuesday 19 December 17 10:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have located his Navy record up to 1930's but cannot find anything more.  I know he served during 1939 -1946.  His service number: J42199.  I would like to trace his service record up to leaving the Navy.  Born 1900, Death 1968, Lived in Birmingham. 1911 Census: RG14, 18364.

Any help offered would be much appreciated. :)

Cheshire / Robert Barlow, b1789 Chirk, Denbighshire
« on: Monday 20 April 15 17:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi,  Looking for a marriage 1805 - 1820,  there is nothing listed in Denbigh or Flint PR's so I am searching Cheshire. The CPRdb is not working today.  FS show a marriage to Alice Jackson 13 Jan 1810 (Frodsham) and another to Hannah Hough 7 July 1812 (Knutsford).  There is a death recorded FreeBMD Wrexham July 1845, not sure if this is the Robert Barlow in question.

Help please.

Denbighshire / Robert Barlow b1789 Chirk.

Hi, Robert Barlow, b1789 Chirk, Father: Robert Barlow b1754, Mother: Dorothy Price b1760. I believe Robert Married Sarah Edwards - Brymbo, 17 Dec. 1826.  I have the record but cannot make out the first name of the other Edwards listed, I think this info would be a clue in finding Sarah's birth.  Can someone on here have a look and try to decipher the name.  Thank you.

Staffordshire / Thomas M Barlow married Constance W Bull 1910 - Vanished!!
« on: Friday 03 April 15 09:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Thomas (M) Barlow b1880 6b,819  listed 1881 census: RG11,1852,16,30 and 1891 census: RG12,2274,49,51 married Constance Bull 1910 - 6b,1377 West Bromwich.  Have looked on Ancestry, FindMyPast and FS nothing after 1910. West Midlands BMD has Thomas's birth but nothing after.
I can see Bull is a common name in the area but nothing on Constance W Bull in any of the data bases searched other than the marriage ( the marriage is not listed on the WMBMD)

They have vanished!!  But I am confident someone on this forum will prove me wrong (please)

John Richard Barlow is listed 1881 Census - RG11,2849,54,7   1911 Census - RG14,17308,134 but no record of him found 1891, 1901 Census.  His wife Phoebe Hill (married 1902 West Bromwich) cannot be found either.  Are these census records lost? or am I missing something here.

John's parents are: John Barlow b1842 and Sarah Lawrence b1846.

Leicestershire / Another Hardy brick wall in Leicestershire - Help Please.
« on: Tuesday 24 March 15 10:53 GMT (UK)  »
George Hardy b1885 and spouse Bertha Watson b1891 no trace after 1911 census.

George Hardy married Bertha Watson in 1909 Ashby-de-la-Zouch - BMD marriage index 1837-1915 7a, 235.  They are both listed on the 1911 census - RG14, piece: 19082 - Living in Church Lane Ravenstone, Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

I cannot find any further reference re children or death in Leicestershire.

George's brother Harry married Bertha's sister Hannah in 1920,  I have assigned the two children Elizabeth b1921, and Berlinda b1924, (Watson) to this marriage

What has happened to George and Bertha?  Help please.
