World War Two / RAF in India WW2
« on: Tuesday 25 August 09 17:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am wondering if someone may be able to help me? My grandfather served with the RAF during WW2 but was sent to India. I wasn't aware that India was involved in the war and would be grateful if anyone could tell me more about what he would have being doing there?

Many thanks

Susie

Fife / John Burns Grant born c1842 Kirkcaldy
« on: Friday 07 April 06 23:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have got very stuck and am hoping that someone might be able to help! I have a John Burns Grant born abt 1842 in Kirkcaldy (from the 1871 census). He married a Mary Jane Chapman in Plymouth, Devon in 1870, but using the name of Nathaniel Burns??
John and Mary Jane then moved to Cambusnethan, near Wishaw in 1871. He died there in 1877 and his death certificate states that  his parents were a David Grant and an Elizabeth. Has anyone any clues to where I go from here?

Thanks lots

Sue

I am looking for any information on this couple? They married about 1762 in Strichen and had one child that I know of, an Alexander born 1768. I would love to know more and who their parents were?
Thanks

Any help would be great.

I would be so grateful if someone could find an Alexander Kennedy (born 1824), Isabella Kennedy (wife) and 2 daughters Annie (b 1849) and Jeannie, (or Jean or Jane born 1851) on the 1851 census. I know hey were living in 1851 in St Nicholas where Jeannie was born, prior to this they were living in Udny. I am keen to establish a birth place for Isabella.

Shetland / Abernethy/Hoseason
« on: Friday 20 January 06 21:16 GMT (UK)  »
I am wondering if anyone has any  information on  James Abernethy (born 1861 Lerwick) who married a Jane Margaret Mary Hoseason (born 1855) in Lerwick in 1884. They moved to Glasgow sometime after 1885 and I am especially keen to know anything about their second daughter Catherine McLaren Abernethy whom I believe to be adopted.

Thanks

Sue Christie
