Lincolnshire / Joseph Dixon - Out Pauper?
« on: Tuesday 24 July 07 21:42 BST (UK)  »
In trying to find out about my grandfather (on my mothers side) family, i found on the 1881 census a family who seem to fit - the head of the household is Joseph Dixon, who is listed as "Out Pauper and Ag Lab"

I am guessing that this means he might have been in the workhouse or something?

I found him on the 1871 census (in the same village) but cannot find the family in 1891, although my grandfather was born to the daughter of Joseph in the same village in 1895.

Can anyone suggest any other places i could look?

Thanks in anticipation!! :D

Lincolnshire / Marriage - DIXON/JOHNSON mid 1920s
« on: Tuesday 19 September 06 18:59 BST (UK)  »
Was not sure if i should have posted this on the lookup requests or not, so apologies if it is in the wrong place!
I would like to obtain a copy of the marriage certificate for my grand parents, Albert Edward Dixon and Dorothy Johnson.
I know that they were married on 12th November in Kirton, but am unsure of the year. It was most probably 1924 or 1925, so if some kind person has access to the relevant details and can supply the reference numbers i need, I will be most grateful.
Yours in hope!!!!

Midlothian / Twins-Robert and Alexander Donaldson
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 16:44 BST (UK)  »
My gt grandfather Robert Donaldson and his twin Alexander, were born to John and Euphemia Donaldson, on 5th May 1873 in Granton, Edinburgh. They had an older sister, Mary, (born 3.12.1871).

On the 1881 census they were recorded as living at 24 Prince Regent Street.

I would like any further information on Alexander or Mary, if anyone reading this has any connection.

Thanks!

Dunbartonshire / Bridget Bogue.
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 15:50 BST (UK)  »
According to the 1881 census, Bridget Bogue (actually recorded as Bayne) was one month old, born St James, Dunbarton.

Her sister, Mary was aged 7 and born in Govan. Mary was my gt grandmother, and if anyone has any connection to Bridget (or Mary) i would be pleased to make contact.

Parents were John Bogue and Ellen Halliday, who married in 1871 in Belfast, but were living in Scotland by the time of Marys' birth in 1873.

Lincolnshire / Births and Marriage records?
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 15:39 BST (UK)  »
I recently came across a very old notebook which i was obviously using many years ago(before the advent of computers!), when i first started looking at my family history. In it i found the following:-

Eliza A Atkinson born 1875, died 1958. Book 14 entry 13
John William Johnson born 1877, died 1962. Book 13 entry 3
Dorothy Johnson born 1902 died 1981 Book4A Entry 55
Matthew Askew/Eliza Burrell Book no1 page 97
Albert Edward Dixon born 1896(Sibsey) died 1977

I am guessing that these details relate to relevant entries in the records, but i have no idea where i got the information!! If anyone can expand on these details i would be very grateful, the notebook had been tucked away for many years and i found it when i was having a clear out.

Heres hoping!

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / Ellen Halliday/Holliday - Birth 1842
« on: Wednesday 26 July 06 14:12 BST (UK)  »
Ellen Halliday (or Holliday) was my great great grandmother, born in Co. Antrim 6.12.1842. I believe her parents were JohnHalliday and Mary Fletcher, but would be very grateful if anyone could confirm this for me, and if at all possible, find any marriage details for John and Mary, probably in the 1830s. I realise that is a bit vague datewise, but any help or advice would be most welcome.

Ellen married John Bogue on 2.4.1871 at St Annes Belfast.

Heres hoping!!

« on: Monday 12 June 06 21:12 BST (UK)  »
i have a hotmail address, and over the past two days i have been unable to access my messages. It will let me sign in, and go to my inbox or whatever, but then wont let me access the messages.
It will let me type new messages, and i could contact their customer service network, but then i would not be able to read their reply!!
Does anyone have any idea why this might be? I have not installed/uninstalled anything recently, and i even did a system restore to see if that worked - it didnt!!
Now i dont know what to try next, any ideas ??? ??? ???

United States of America / Jersey City mid 1800's
« on: Sunday 21 May 06 20:03 BST (UK)  »
Can anybody advise me how to find  more information from an original letter i have which i believe was  written about 1875, to my gtgtgt grandmother? Not much to go on, but in it it says "he left the marble shop and went to the steel? cutting" "he was living in one of his own houses 31 Brunswick Street, Jersey City". I think the person referred to is possibly my gtgt grandmothers brother, but i have no first name, the surname though is Bogue. Any advice or suggestions will be very welcome.
