Family History Beginners Board / Casablanca birth records
« on: Saturday 17 February 18 11:24 GMT (UK)  »
My mother-in-law was Severine Adragna born  23rd April 1922 in Casablanca to an Italian father (Antonino).

I have searched high and low and cannot find any more details. At the time Casablanca was under French rule; it's possible that records were destroyed after the French were forcibly removed. Has anyone any advice as to where I could find such details as birth certificates etc? Many thanks.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Stevens - Stenning family trees - DNA test
« on: Sunday 14 September 14 07:25 BST (UK)  »
Background: Stephen Stenning (b.1805, Wisborough Green, West Sussex). Married a Stevens who soon died. Her sister took over the wifely duties and they had several children, all of whom, later in life, changed their surname to Stevens.

Well this is the story, but is it true? I've just had a y-DNA test (results not through yet) and was wondering if any Stenning, or indeed Stevens from  the Surrey/Sussex area has had a DNA test?

Thanks, Richard Stevens.

Family History Beginners Board / Gertude Taylor, (Nottingham) and Stevens
« on: Sunday 26 January 14 12:06 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to trace Gertrude Taylor (b.1882) in Nottingham, England (I think). Husband was Henry Stevens (Surrey and Sussex). Son was Thomas Noel Henry Stevens (my father; b.1917). Gertrude's father was a John Taylor (lace-maker) and his wife was Mary A. They may have had other sons and daughters (Sarah, Harriet, Leonard, John and Florence). Sometime lived in Cobham, Dunsfold and Bath. I cannot find her for certain in the 1911 census (nor, indeed, the rest of the family). If anyone is researching the same tree please contact me asap. Many thanks.
