Carmarthenshire / 1861 Census
« on: Saturday 20 May 17 16:46 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone could help or possibly shed some light.  I have traced a family member 1851, then 1871 -1901 on the census.  They appeared at the same farm constantly. (farm is Waunbant) However, I cannot for the life of me find them on 1861. I've tried finding the area, then scouring through the pages.  Does anyone know whether parts of the 1861 are missing?  I wondered this as I, not only tried to trace the family through mother, father and a son from the 1851 and then another from the 1971, but I also tried to trace some neighbours in order to get somewhere near, but I can't even find them!!!

The family in question as per 1851 are :
Waunbant, Mynachty Hamlet, Llancrwys, Carmarthenshire
Thomas Jones, 1818, born Llancrwys, Farmer aged 33
Mary Jones, 1821, born Conwil Caio, wife aged 30
John Jones, 1845, born Llancrwys, son aged 6

1871
Waunbant, Forest Hamlet, Llancrwys, Carmarthenshire
Thomas Jones, 1817 born Llancrwys, farmer aged 54
Mary Jones, 1821, born Conwil Caio, wife, aged 50
Thomas Jones, 1864, born Llancrwys, son aged 7

Many thanks to anyone who picks up my message.

Durham / Grangetown/Hendon

Sorry, if I'm wrong, but wasn't sure where to post.  Am trying to help a good friend in Aus to find living/dead relatives in the Grangetown/Hendon area.  I have contacted the Sunderland Echo with a couple of photos and her written details.  Was just wondering if one is allowed to post such a thing on here?  We're talking of finding relatives from 1948/49 last in touch in Grangetown possibly Hendon area of Sunderland.

Many thanks for any help/direction.

Kent Lookup Requests / Dover birth around 1806 and marriage
« on: Sunday 10 November 13 21:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Not sure if anyone can help.  Trying to help my cousin in Aus find his relatives.  Found them on all census.  Looking for Francis/Frances ??? who married a George Talbot/Tallbot.  It states Frances was born circa 1806 in Dover, Kent.  The chldren went on to be born all in Oxfordshire, but I was wondering if they married in Kent first.  On finding the marriage, I can then hopefully find the maiden name of Frances and then her baptism.  On 1841 Census, they were living in Oxfordshire and first child Ann, was born Oxfordshire, in around 1827, but I cant find a marriage.  If anyone can offer any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Baptism/Marriage St Thomas Oxford
« on: Sunday 10 November 13 20:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I was hoping someone might help me.  I'm trying to help my cousin in Australia find his family.  Have been able to get the census returns but cannot find a baptism or marriage.

Mary Talbot/Tallbot was born in Oxfordshire, I believe St. Thomas Oxford circa 1842.  I know her parent are called George Talbot and Francis (spelling of man's name on census) but not sure of the mother's maiden name.  The first child, Ann was born 1827 in Oxford so I assume the marriage is around then.  1841 states Ann as first child, could've been earlier, don't know.  Address on 1841 census gave, Hamel, St Thomas, Oxford, Oxfordshire.  States George was born Wallingford, Berkshire (obv.pre border change) in around 1803 and Francis was from Kent. (dover_ born about 1806)

Mary Talbot went on to marry a William Butler at St. Thomas Oxford around 1871.

Any help, much appreciated.

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Help please Immigration/Work Papers
« on: Monday 10 May 10 10:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I hope someone may be able to help a newbie please?
I have tried the Archives at Kew, but I'm getting confused and nowhere.
My challenge:
I am trying to trace my late mother's footsteps.  She was born in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland and came to this country in April 1955.  I have some details from the Swiss Embassy but it doesn't help me that much.  I have recently found that she worked at the Hotel Bristol and Hotel Kreuz in Bern 1950-1955.  Is there any way of getting informaton about work papers or employment?  Where and how do I go about getting hold of Census returns?

Any info gratefully received.

Thanks

Carmarthenshire / Marriage : Forge Cottages, Wern, Llanelly/Llanelli
« on: Saturday 27 March 10 22:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help, or can I purchase CDs or get on-line, marriage details?

I'm looking for a relative who married approximately 1835, could be earlier or later, I just don't know, but the first child noted on the 1841 was born
1839.  The parents I'm trying to research are Walter Williams who married Ann???, they both were from Llanelly area.  They lived most of their lives in Forge Cottages, Llanelly.  Walter was born circa 1816-1919, census gives roundabout 1816, death at aged 70 in 1889 would be birth circa 1819.

I did enquire with Archives Office but they said they couldn't find a match between 1836-39.  I've found the family 1841-1881 and it would appear that in 1871 Walter had remarried again to Ann/Jane.  But it's the first marriage I'm trying to track and then hopefully their baptisms.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
