Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Borough Green / Ilford - Kent??

Hi

I am trying to trace my Gt Grandfather and have at last found some details on Ancestry of his WW1 Service but am a bit confused by the geography.

One record states his d.o.b as 21.12.1887 and the place looks like Borough Green, Ilford, Kent. Ilford is definately written but is darker and looks like it might have been added at a different time.

From the searches I have done I thought Ilford was in Essex and Borough Green near Sevenoaks, Kent.

Please can anybody confirm if they are near each other or different places so I can narrow down my search for him.

For info. the date of the document is 1918.

United States of America / Checks when emigrating to USA

Please can anybody advise if checks were made on the info supplied when somebody emigrated to USA.

I have a relative who advised he was going to join his brother but on further investigation they both have different fathers.

I am now wondering whether they were brothers atall, maybe half brothers.

I just wondered if the info supplied would be checked or verified atall.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Medway online registers - problems

Hi,

I have been trying to search the Cityark/Medway registers but can only view about 4 images, after that I just get a blank screen but no image (computer is making all the right noises as if it's opening up the document but there is nothing to view! - if I refresh or come out of the site it still happens when i go back in but when I go back in the next day it is ok again for another 3 or 4 then happens again..)

Has anybody else had this problem? Any tips on what I might be doing wrong would be much appreciated.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / 1871/1881 John White, Darenth.

Please can anybody find John White born Darenth, Kent on 1871 or 1881 census?

I Found him on 1891 census in Darenth Asylum birth date 1861, he is still there on 1901 census with birth date 1858.

I am curious to find him with any relatives at earlier dates but I haven't been able to find him.

England / Help finding marriage - WHITE, 1909, Cheshire (maybe)

Please can anybody assist me finding a marriage between William White and Emma ? possibly in Cheshire around 1909/10

They had a son called John b. August 1910, so presume that they were married in about 1909/1910 but i have nothing concrete to go on.

William travelled to USA in March 1910, Emma in Oct 1910. At the time of travelling they both listed their address as 19 Harrisons Terrace, Little Sutton, Cheshire.

William is listed on the passenger lists as being born in London (b.1881) Emma from Killybegs, Ireland (b.1880)

From previous censues I can only find 2 Emma's from Killybegs, 1 Haggis and 1 Chalmers - neither seem to fit with a marriage around those dates.

Maybe I am just not looking in the right places! Any help or ideas gratefully received.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / 1901 census -Middle name "Ocel"???

I have a relative Sydney White who appears on the 1901 census with the middle name transcribed as "Ocel" This seems very unusual and from the actual image it looks like the name starts with an A.

I would be very grateful if anybody can tell me if Ocel is correct or can suggest any alternatives.

(Sorry but i don't know how to put the image on here but he was b. 1893, Darenth, Kent. ref: RG13/707/8/7)

Kent / Alternatives to Ancestry.co.uk??

I have been using Ancestry.co.uk to search for my relatives with some success, however my credits have now run out.

As I wasn't able to find all the info. I needed on that site I wondered if anybody can suggest an alternative (or is the census info the same on all sites??)

I would be very grateful for your advice.

US Lookup Requests / Alfred White - UK to USA 1920

Please can anybody shed some light on what happended to my g/grandfather once he arrived in USA.

Alfred Sydney White arrived on the vessel Kaiserin Auguste Victoria on July 12 1920 (Liverpool to New York), he was 32 years old and travelled alone to join his brother William at 709 Hayman St, Youngstown, Ohio.

It was intended that his wife and four sons would join him one settled, however he never made contact with them again.

I can't seem to trace him on any records and wonder what became of him.

Can anybody help?

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1871 census - James & Ann White

Can anybody help locate the above 2 people (maybe from 1871 census?) I am trying to trace if they have any children.

I have their marriage cert dated 29th Oct 1862 at Parish of St George the Martyr, Southwark, Surrey. Both were listed as full age and address as 46 Dover Road, Borough Ditton.

other than their fathers names and occupations from the marriage cert i don't have any other info. and am having trouble tying in exactly how they relate to my g/g/gfather.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
