United States of America / Long lost 2nd Great Uncle William Webb
« on: Tuesday 24 March 20 10:36 GMT (UK)  »
Dear Sir/Madam

I am trying to trace my Great great Uncle William Webb, born 1865 in Tipton Staffordshire, England.
we have found a record of a William leaving Liverpool in 1887, bound for New York on the good ship "Italy"
It is possible that he ended up in Boston, Mass, he was according the 1881 Census an Iron worker, his parents and brothers moved to Monckton main Colliery in West Yorkshire around the same time as this "William" travelled to America.

As the subject heading suggests I am trying to research into when and how my grt Grandparents Thomas & Susannah Webb,  lived and worked at the above site.

I have been told there is a booklet out there somewhere called "Monckton it's Origins & History," by P A Thorpe.
I have tried our local library here in Devon, even looked on Amazon & ebay, with no luck whatsoever, is there anyone out there who can help???

Family History Beginners Board / In Search Of a Lost Great Uncle
« on: Sunday 10 December 17 13:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
Are there electoral rolls in Ireland either North or South, as a great uncle Charles Webb and his wife Elizabeth, moved across the water from Brierley West Yorkshire, to either run or work on a farm. Charles was from a traditional mining family and Elizabeth's parents were farmers.
I can find no trace of them on Ancestry.co etc. I do know that a cousin twice removed visited them in the 1950/60's. The farm was located near or on the border.
Charles & Elizabeth were married in 1924.
Any form of help would be appreciated.
