Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / German translation help
« on: Friday 22 March 24 08:02 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I was recommended to post this here. I've found a death record thanks to the help of others in the forum, but I don't understand German and am having a hard time deciphering the handwriting to put into translate.
If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated, even if just transcribing so that I can pop it into Google Translate.
Thanks!

Lancashire / Illegitimate birth, trying to find a father - Parker/Mcenteer?
« on: Sunday 15 October 23 02:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find information on one of my ancestors, Patrick Mcenteer (possibly something else I will attach his name here). With Sarah Parker (3 Oct 1841 - ?) he had Agnes Parker (6 Feb 1860 - 1896). They were not married and I am having difficulty figuring out how I will find out more on Patrick. I have information on Sarah which I will put below in chronological order, but does anyone have any suggestions or is able to find anything on Patrick?

Agnes appears in the 1861 census with her maternal family. She is listed as the daughter of her grandmother, Susanna (1816 - 1865) in Toxteth Park. She appears with her "siblings":
Thomas (1837 - ?)
Sarah (1841 - ?)
Edward (1847 - ?)
Jane (1849 - ?)

In later life, Sarah married William Mark in 1872 and John Brown in 1878. She had another daughter, Sarah Jane with William in 1874.

I've attached Agnes' baptism record below which shows her parents.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Gloucestershire / Charles King and Anna Read family - 18th-19th century
« on: Tuesday 15 June 21 00:13 BST (UK)  »
Hey everyone,
I've hit a bit of a brickwall with my ancestors Charles King who married Anna Read on 22 Aug 1771 in Tewkesbury. I can't find any records from before their marriage and would like to see if we can go back a bit further. I believe that Charles was a solicitor, his name may have been William which I found in the text of "The Washbourn Family", however I know 19th century family books can be wrong.

I'm listing everything I know about their immediate family below.

Charles King m(1771). Anna Read
- Nathaniel Thomas King (1775 - 1845) m(1805). Sarah Undey (1775 - ?)

- Eliza Anna King (1776 - 1839) m(1813). John Chadborn

- Charlotte King (1778 - ?)

- William Read King (1780 - 1864) m1(1804). Anna Lawson; m2(1813). Maria Lawson

- Sophia King (1782 - 1848) m(1819). William Tupsley Washbourn (1791 - 1842)

- Anna King (1785 - ?)

Thanks for the help!

Australia / WALDRON John Cecil
« on: Tuesday 30 July 19 04:17 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone, I've posted about this man but I thought I would try my luck again.
John Cecil Waldron is one of my ancestors who has proved elusive for many years. There are varying sources on his birthdate, birthplace and surname making it very difficult to find him.

John was born from 1868 - 1873 (although I believe 1868 - 1870 is more likely). One of his children's birth certificates states he was born in 1868 in Stepney, England. Two others state 1870 in Melbourne and another two state 1869 in Melbourne. The 1873 date comes from his WWI enlistment on 6 August 1917 stating he is 44 and 9 months as well as a natural born British subject. His death certificate from the 30 Dec 1944 states he was born "at sea" to Francis and Ellen Waldron, Francis being a contractor. This record also stated he spent unrecorded amounts of time in WA and NSW as well as around 40 years in VIC. When I last posted about John a distant family member said their father thought the name was changed from Stein or Steino to Waldron. My own family story is that John was born in Germany.

John married Emily Norwood Watson on the 22 Sep 1897 in Beaconsfield, WA. They had eight children together:
- Francis Cecil b. 1898 Perth WA d. before 1907
- Violet Norwood b. 21 Aug 1899 Perth WA d. 1983
- Frank Norwood b. 1901 Perth WA d. 1983
- Alice Mary b. 2 April 1904 Melbourne VIC d. ?
- Winifred Margery b. 21 July 1907 Walhalla VIC d. 1981
- Wilfred Raymond b. 4 April 1909 Walhalla VIC d. 1970
- Hazel Jean b. 7 Jan 1911 Walhalla d. 1979
- Allan b. 21 April 1913 Melbourne d. 1978

Any help in finding a definite birthdate and location for John as well as his earlier family would be greatly, greatly appreciated!

Lancashire / Graham Family - Liverpool
« on: Wednesday 24 July 19 09:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find out more about the Graham family in Liverpool in the 19th century. In particular that of William Graham (b. 1826) and Ellen Sumner (b. 1832) married 23 Feb 1852. I believe that they had ten children, although, I am unsure about the existence of one, Clarissa. I am looking for their descendants and William's other family. I know that his parents were called Thomas and Jean.
William and Ellen's ten children were:
- Albert, b. 1853
- Arthur James, b. 1854 m. Isabella Roebrts, b. 1853
- Charles, b. 1856
- Amelia Ann b. 1858, m. Charles Taylor
- Louisa b. 1859
- Clarissa b. 1860
- Marian b. 1862 m. John Roberts b. 1858 (brother of Isabella Roberts)
- Emma b. 1864
- Ellen b. 1865
- Archibald b 1870 m. Eliza ?

Thanks for any help!

Kildare / Mcintosh family
« on: Thursday 04 July 19 13:18 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find more information of a certain Mcintosh family who moved to Flint, Wales any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have James Mcintosh born 1844 living in Flint in the 1871, 1891, 1901 and 1911 census. His family consists as follows:

Wife: Maria Ann Hills b. 1839 Leigh, Essex d. 1915 Flint, Wales.
Children:
- Margaret b. 1868 Flint, d. 1936 Glasgow m. John Hillock
- Thomas b. 1869 Flint
- Sarah b. 1871 Flint

In the 1901 census James' brother Thomas was living with the family born in 1852 and listed as being born in Ireland.

I assume that James and Thomas moved from Kildare as James is listed as being born in both Dublin and Kildare in separate censuses. I am trying to locate their siblings and parents etc.
Thanks for the help!

Lancashire / Roberts family
« on: Wednesday 03 July 19 10:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I'm having difficulty tracking down the whereabouts of the Roberts family in the 1871 English census as well as the origins of the heads of the household. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The family is as follows (all according to the 1861 census, they were stated as living in Everton):
Richard Roberts b. 1822 Chester
Elizabeth b. 1822 Shropshire
- Winifred b. 1850
- Hugh b. 1852
- Isabella b. 1853
- Elizabeth b. 1855
- John b. 1858
- Mary J b. 1860

I know that Isabella and John married the siblings Arthur James Graham and Marian Graham in 1875 and 1882 respectively. In the marriage certificate of John and Marian it says that Richard is deceased. I'm having trouble locating the origins of Richard and Elizabeth as well as the whereabouts of their other children post-1861.
I'll be grateful for any help!
