In the 1861 census showing Major John Robert Wilton's family, two of the children were missing. I have recently found out why. While John was serving in St. Helier, Jersey, in 1860, son Lewis died from meningitis May, 1860, age three years, six months. His sister Margaret died from tuberculosis in October that year, at the age of fourteen years, six months. Whew! I did it!

Jane Wilton applied for the Widow's Pension in August 1821, then had to prove she was the wife of Lt. John Wilton of 53rd Regiment who died at Banganlone 20th August, 1820. The curator who married them (June 1, 1806) sent the information needed.  Can't locate if she received the pension.

I am trying to establish if I have this Smith family correct.  William Samuel Smith went by his middle name Samuel.  He was born 1725 or 1731, baptised at St. Botolph, Bishopsgate, Middlesex, London.  He married Margaret Mead (born 1730) Dec. 21, 1749 at Collegiate Church of St. Katherine by the Tower, London, City of London.  I have found the following children which I think might be theirs.  All bapt. at St. Botolph, Bishopsgate: William Oct. 1751, Joseph Nov. 1752, Mary Oct. 1753,( died Feb. 1754/55, buried St. B&B), Margaret Feb. 1756, Samuel July 1758, Elizabeth Oct. 1760, and Mary Jan. 1763.  Was there a census for this time period?  Hoping to locate more information on the son William 1751, his spouse and children. Thanks for viewing...Penny in Canada

Trying to establish who William's parents were. Think he was born 1770, possibly st Botolph Bishopsgate Middlesex.  Parents could be Samuel and Margaret (Mead) Smith, or Benjamin William and Margaret (Mead) Smith
