Family History Beginners Board / Any thoughts on my BrickWall please.
« on: Tuesday 26 December 23 12:10 GMT (UK)  »
This has been in my tree for several years, i keep going back to it but cant find any more answers.

my 4x grandparends were born in shropshire,William and Hannah Street, had their children and then moved to stoke on trent in the 1830's.

my 3x uncle John Street .b.1816 marries Ann Willat 1840 in Longton, her father William Willat - potter (witnesses unknown to me )  ann b.1812 (cant find any link to any siblings, mother could be Ann Asbury?)

in 1841 john/ann are living with Prudance weston, and two boys herbert Willett 10 and Henry Willatt 12 in Hanley ( could these be anns brothers/illegitamite children- cant find a birth for them ?? is Prudance any relation?)

in 1851 ann and john are living wth their son Herbert 12 and daughter sarah 7, both born Hanley.   Sarahs birth certificate, gives correct patents but born 1842.. ( Cant find a birth regestration for Herbert, and where was he in 1841 if his age is correct, and what happens to him after this date, he vanishes ?)

The children in 1841 census
henry marries Edna in 1850- father William Willott - farmer  (john/Ann Street witness) - emigrate to USA
Herbert marries  Elizabeth in1851 - father John Willet - potter (herbert dies 1857) (henry and wife above witness) have a daughter Prudance.

John Street dies 1851, 1861 wife Ann is living with Sarah and her husband - Sarah leaves husband and emigrates, i can follow her in America until her death ( but what happens to her mother Ann Street after 1861?)

If anyone has any thoughts or could shed any light to fill in the gaps I'd be very greatful,

Thanks Helen.

Family History Beginners Board / Family post cards and missing people.
« on: Monday 21 February 22 20:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I have just been given a pile of post cards sent to a deceased family member during 1930-1939. Three people who write are called Nellie,  Phyllis and Nellie but don't know who they are as no surnames are given. The only clue I have one  Nellie has postal mark from maccelsfield and writes to say her sisters daughter is getting married on Sat and Phyllis and Nellie are bridesmaides would my relative like to go and see them.  If I could find out who is getting married the surname might help to unlock a link to these people.  the post card was dated 15th April 1938, the wedding was going to be on the saturday.  The wedding iwas going to be at Northwood Church in Hanley Stoke-on-trent.  Is it possible to trace a wedding by date only, when i try it just asks for names.  Thanks Helen.

The Common Room / Where is Olive Bratt
« on: Tuesday 13 April 21 18:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi Just wondering if anyone could try to find a birth or death reg for Olive Bratt of Thorncliffe leek.

Parents Thomas Bratt 1775-1826 and Elizabeth 1861-  ?  they had six children, joseph 1794,john and Ann 1798
christened in meerbrook. Then Thomas who died1831, william 1833 was an inkeesper and Olive. birth reg for these)

I have no birth for Olive.  she married Peter Bowyer 14/4/1823 at st.Edwards church leek. I have a land conveyancing document dated June 1833 where the fathers land is being sold in accordance to his will and divided between his 5 surving children,  Olive is alive then as she is mentioned as living in the document.  By 1841 she is missing her husband is living in Thorncliffe with 4 children, the last being Elizabeth b.1831.  If anyone can find any info relating to Olive I'd be very greatful.

Also is it possible to find copies of wills from 1826.
