New Zealand Completed Requests / Immigration records if not arrived by ship
« on: Tuesday 02 January 24 13:28 GMT (UK)  »
I'm used to searching for incoming and outgoing passenger listings - by ship. My father left NZ by ship, but returned about 3 months later,  to Auckland by flying boat - with his new wife (my Mother). Are their any records on line regarding people who flew into NZ?  He would have come to Sydney from Hong Kong. Then his plane from Sydney landed in Mechanics Bay, Auckland.  C Nov/Dec 1949

From dale to highland, city centres to remote outposts, Toitū Otago Settlers Museum curator Sean Brosnahan has left no stone unturned to discover the trials and tribulations of early European pioneers who came to call Otago home.
The online documentary series Journey to New Edinburgh, researched and presented by Mr Brosnahan, has now come to an end after three years and more than 350 locations.

The series covers the story of the Otago settlement from its conception in the 1840s through to its realisation, Mr Brosnahan said.

As well as investigating movers and shakers who led the formation of the settlement, it also uncovers the story of some ordinary settlers.

"We wanted to go to where they came from and consider why they might have left there."

« on: Monday 15 May 17 06:37 BST (UK)  »
Yes - we needed this yesterday - I wonder what town/city

$10 million of funding will be spread over two years and help Archives New Zealand buy land for a new facility and increase storage which is currently at capacity.

"We've got this wonderful treasure trove of data be it personal to individual families or be it in the country's national interest, that I think we need to be preserving and I think we need to be encouraging people to come and see.

New Zealand Completed Requests / Charlie Loo Chong from Omakau
« on: Saturday 04 June 16 04:58 BST (UK)  »
Looking for his burial place, and if he has a head stone, especially with Chinese characters. Also a photo of the gentleman, or his fruit shop in Ophir.  In 1908 he had already been in NZ 28 years.    Have found the Papers past records, and probate on line.

Charlie Loo Chong, carrier and coal merchant, and a familiar figure in the Omakau district, was found dead in his bed on Tuesday last. The deceased had been in bad health for some months and an inquest was considered unnecessary. Dunstan Times , Issue 2765, 17 May 1915, Page 4
