London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Brompton Cemetery look up request
« on: Monday 07 June 21 04:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello lovely volunteers out there.
My GGGG grandfather George WORT was buried in Brompton 1865.
I have a screen snap of the location from the royalparks.org.uk grave locator but it doesn't seem to allow me to add images to this group.  It's the very back left section of the cemetery - closest to the West Brompton station.  The magnification is not great but looks like there is no headstone.

Would sks be able to maybe take a snap at some stage for me please?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there

My GGGG grandfather James John KITCHENER died 3 Oct 1847 aged 47 at the Workhouse, Mint Street, Southwark of diarrhoea.  He is in the deaths and burials register for the above church.

My query is what cemetery was nearby that he might be buried in.  All my searches over the years have not yielded a cemetery for him.  He was only in the workhouse due to illness and his wife Caroline was living on the outside.

Thanks in advance!

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Martha LUKE - Kneesworth/Royston
« on: Wednesday 26 February 14 10:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hello peoples

Just wondering if anyone has come across the grave of Martha LUKE nee WHYATT who was alive in the 1851 census, a widow aged 41, annuitant and living at her uncles farm [John STANFORD], 48 Kneesworth with her young sons John North and Samuel LUKE [Jnr].  She was born at Harlton, Cambridgeshire c1810 and married Samuel LUKE on 13 Sept 1831 at Royston.

Trying to ascertain if she died prior to 1860.  Samuel LUKE seniors grave would be a bonus also!

Am researching the mourning brooch of John North LUKE who died in 1860 aged 22.

Cheers

Hello all  ;D

Wondering if some lovely person might be able to take a few overall snaps of this cemetery for me?  I have at least a couple of connections to my family there.   I doubt they will have stones [would be a fantastic find] but an overview would be nice for my records :)

My GGG grandfather  Edward LEES [LEESE] died 22 Feb 1861 at Knock and Maize of inflammation of the right lung from natural causes and is buried there.  So is his 9 month old son John who died of smallpox 25 March 1855.

The family for some time lived at Belmont Cottage, Stranraer.

Much appreciated!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / 1841 census occupation help
« on: Friday 23 March 12 02:47 GMT (UK)  »
Howdy everyone.

Please see attached snippet.  This soldier was in the 2nd Dragoon Guards and aged 35.

The last word is obviously Major, however what is the first word?

The soldier after this fellow was written down as a 'schoolmaster Serjeant' so don't assume that the mystery word is not a real occupation written in before his rank.

Any help appreciated.

Howdy

My GGGG grandmother and her sons address is listed in the 1841 Scottish Census as  "without the royalty", Whithorn.

I gather this means they lived outside some form of boundary.  Can anyone clarify what the boundaries for Whithorn were?

Much appreciated

Australia / Look up ... Field of Mars Cemetery, NSW

Hello everyone

Wondering if SKS would be able to take a photo of the grave of my Great uncle Peter John JOHNSTON [death cert states also known as JOHNSON and confirmed by undertaker today] buried in the above cemetery.

He is buried in Church Of England Section S, grave no. 2374.  I doubt there is a headstone as it was a paupers burial.  He died 10 June 1970.

Any information on his life in Australia would be terrific also.  I have done a webpage on him at www.sarndra.com/peter.html

Much appreciated!

Someone may have already posted about this, but i've not had time to read thru all the posts the last couple of days.

Young fellow Thomas DODD aged 13 has lost both his parents to cancer. His father of Thyroid cancer 3 years ago and his mother in 1999 of breast cancer.  He is hunting for extended family.  Maybe someone here can help?
