I am looking for any information on the Green Family "Aileen Maud b Jan 8 1908 17 Miller St Derry City, Ireland rumoured to have married a man named Green and went to England and never heard from afterwards".  This was the youngest daughter of William Reilly and Margaret Hawthorn.
I found an Eileen Maud Green in the 1939 register for Barnsley same D of B.,  and a death record for an Eileen M Green 1940, age 32 in the Civil Reg Death Index, leaving 4 young children without a mother.  The 1939 register has written in red "adopt" beside one child and recorded the family name of Boyes, another child has kept his family name but it is hyphenated Green-Spikesley.  I do not know anything about their father.  My theory is that some of the children were adopted and the father has gone to war.  Can anyone add any information.  Thankyou in advance/

Derry (Londonderry) / Decipering the Residence of Nancy Evans and James Montgomery
« on: Friday 20 October 23 23:26 BST (UK)  »
My 2x Great Grandparents, Nancy and James were married at the Meeting House, Presbyterian Church Banagher, Co Londonderry in 1848.  I am trying to find out where the couple were living when they married.  I wondered if anyone could make out the Townland that they were both living at. I thought it may be the Townland of Tirglassan. Thankyou in advance

Derry (Londonderry) / Townlands in the Parish of Cumber Upper
« on: Friday 15 September 23 22:07 BST (UK)  »
I have a query regarding Townland names in 1831.   My family of Reilly's came from the Townland of Kilculmagrandal, my great great grandfather was James Reilly who died at Kinculmagrandal in 1885 supposedly at 100 years old.   Was the Townland of Kinculmagrandal known as the Townland of Coote.
In the 1831 census there is a James and George Reilly registered as living at Kilculmagrandal Townland, Parish of Cumber Upper, Barony of Tirkeeran, Co Londonderry.

In the Londonderry 1831 census returns on Familysearch.  George and James are living at the Townland of Coote, Parish of Cumber Upper, Barony of Tirkeeran, Co Londonderry.

I have tried looking up where the Townland of Coote was but I haven't found anything.  Any help would be appreciated.  Angela

United States of America / Look-Up For John Walker,
« on: Thursday 30 March 23 12:33 BST (UK)  »
Ann Walker nee Lowrie and two of her brothers with their wives immigrated to America during the 1840s the time of the Irish famine.  Ann was born abt 1814  died 1894 in Ontario. Canada.

In the New York, U.S., State Census of 1855 John Walker's widow, Ann Lowrie  occupation washerwoman, lived with her three children, John, 12, Martha, 11 and Frances 8 all recorded as born in Ireland.  She had been living in the State for 8 years.  Her husband died between the birth of Frances in 1843 and 1855. On Ann's death certificate it records "Merchant Clerks Widow".  Is there records that would give me the date of his death of John Walker or immigration records that record the crossing of Ann or Annie and John and her three children.

At the time of the 1850 census  Ann's brother,  Alexander Lowrie and his family lived in Pittsburgh Ward 7, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, USA.  Martha, his daughter was recorded as born in Pennsylvania 1845.

At the time of the 1850 census Ann's brother John Lowrie's lived in Ontario, his daughter, Martha was recorded that she was born in  Pennsylvania 1843.  He moved with his wife from Pennsylvania to Ontario in 1844.  Unfortunately I don't have the emigration records for any of the family.

In the 1861 census Ann has moved close to her brother John in Ontario with her three children.

Thankyou for any information Angela

Donegal / Sale of property in Strabane
« on: Friday 23 September 22 23:24 BST (UK)  »
Regarding the sale of a farm at Carrickbrack near Raphoe in 1865.  Was it common practise to purchase the farm after the official bidding was over.  Sounds like the modern day version of Gazumping.  Do you think there are any other records regarding Carrickbrack..

Regards

Angela

Kincardineshire / Lookup for the birth of Robert Stewart
« on: Wednesday 20 October 21 01:19 BST (UK)  »
His father was the Rev. Samuel Oliver Stewart 1873- 1952 who left Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland in 1909 he took up his post at the MARYCULTER UNITED FREE CHURCH in November 1909,  Rev, Samuel and his wife Annie Stewart nee Snodgrass 1881-1959 were living at The Manse.  In the 1911 census they had no children.  According to Rev. Samuel's memorial "He served in WW1 with the Blackwatch and afterwards was with the Army of Occupation in Germany.  The only mention I have of a son is on Annie's death certificate it records the name Robert Stewart, son present at death.  He must have been born after the 1911 census and Rev Samuel going off to war.  Rev Samuel would have been in his 40s when the war started.   Samuel Oliver Stewart, retired from Tyrie on 30th June. 1942 and returned to Co Cavan, Ireland.  Thankyou in advance for any information.  Angela
