I am looking for my grandfather Alexander Malcolm  Truelove born 21/8/1915-18 his army records say he was born in Cardiff but we can find no trace of him. He appeared in Birmingham just before the war and married my grandmother, his marriage certificate says father Stephen Malcolm Truelove deceased. They had children and he stayed in Birmingham until 1950 then he moved back to Cardiff where he stayed and died in 1985 losing all contact with his children.
I assume he must of had some connection to Wales so it may hold the key to his past but where do I start looking? He seems to have never been born with no birth cert. So may of been brought up in a home/ poorhouse.
I am at a complete loss where to start searching, would the Glamorgan archives be of help? I can't find him on any electoral rolls for Wales any advice greatly appreciated

« on: Sunday 03 September 17 21:41 BST (UK)  »
I have my grandads service number on my dads birth certificate. 14385391 & says gunner
I have put the info in a forces search website but nothing is coming up for that number. Does anyone else know where I may find that info? If I send off to the MOD for info will they give me enough info without next of kin permission? As sadly my dad and his sister don't talk and out of spite she would never give her permission

« on: Tuesday 01 March 16 18:29 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find my grandad (deceased) I have his date of birth confirmed by the MOD but I can't find a birth certificate for him and I've put in searches using just his first names and just surname but I just can't find anything. Any advice or reason I can't find a birth certificate?
His name is Alexander Malcolm Truelove DOB 21/8/1915
A few years after my fathers birth he disappeared so my father has no memories of other relatives and nothing was heard until we found his death cert from 1981
