The Lighter Side / FFHS site
« on: Sunday 13 July 08 09:42 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if the FFHS site gives details of where someone is buried? Name and place of church etc? I don't really want to pay for information that I already have access to on Ancestry, but do want to know where my ancestors are buried.

Many thanks

The Lighter Side / Family Tree Maker 2008

Hi there,

I am thinking about buying FTM 2008. Does anyone know if the free 6 months Ancestry subscription can be used to access the .com site rather than the .uk site? I already have a subscription to the uk site and would prefer to use the free 6 months one for researching my husbands family in the US.

Thanks

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Kew National Archives - Advice needed
« on: Wednesday 31 October 07 10:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Would anyone know if the Kew NA holds all Coroners inquests, in particular 1899?

My Gt grandmother died as a result of a severe head wound whilst living in Poland St workhouse. There are no records for the actual workhouse itself as they were all destroyed in the war, so I am at a brick wall there.

I would really like to know what or who caused these injuries leading to her death and realise that this can only be learnt by accessing the inquest information. I am just not sure where to start on finding these records. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated..

Tipperary / COUGHLAN- Tipperary 1917
« on: Sunday 20 May 07 08:00 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for information regarding a Denis Joseph Coughlan b. 1917. He left Tipperary around the age of 16 having been brought up in the Catholic church.  He mentioned a sister, but as far as we know he had no contact with her. ANY information about his past would be valuable.

Occupation Interests / Military Ornament Maker
« on: Monday 26 February 07 13:47 GMT (UK)  »
My grandfather was a Military Ornament Maker in London for most of his occupational life. He was born in 1880 and this shows up as his occupation in the 1901 census. Would anyone know exactly what this entailed?  ???

The Common Room / Town Council fee for burial information
« on: Tuesday 20 February 07 10:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Would anyone know if charging a fee of £15.28 for the search and release of information on grave location is the norm?
I have just been able to get all this information regarding other family members from another council and they couldn't of have been more helpful. What's more no fee!

£15.28 seems rather expensive, especially when the grave I need to find is of a child that died at birth and is buried in an unmarked grave with another person. I know the church, but without that vital piece of informaton I can go no further.
