Occupation Interests / Currier of horses
« on: Monday 12 October 15 02:16 BST (UK)  »
An ancestor of mine was a Journeyman Currier in the 1840's to 1880's. I noticed that various census records that he had lived in cities noted for their racetracks; including Carlisle, Wolverhampton, and Newcastle. He moved around a lot. Could it be that he worked at the racetrack as a groomer, and moved from track to track, perhaps working for certain trainers or owners?

Born either in Castle Ward or Newcastle, and died as an infant. Parents were Robert Otterson and Elizabeth Otterson (maiden name Little).

There is no record of this child immigrating to the U.S. with parents and siblings, so he must have died before their departure in 1885.

Thanks for your help!

-Joe
