Warwickshire / [RESOLVED] Thomas Cahill/Carroll, Birmingham 1881–1891
« on: Thursday 12 October 23 13:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm trying to find out what happened to Thomas Cahill or Carroll, born 1872 to James Cahill/Carroll and Ellen Reading in Birmingham.

The only two records I can find are his baptism in 1872 and on the 1881 Census at 2 Court, House 2, Hospital Street.

On the 1891 Census the family is at 14 Court, House 8, New Summer Street but Thomas is missing, so he either died or got married in the intervening period.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm looking for a list of any and all breweries or bottling companies in the Brearley Street-Pritchard Road area of Birmingham which operated between 1900–1905.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Armed Forces / 6th (Militia) Btn., Worcestershire Reg. diaries, South Africa 1902?
« on: Thursday 16 November 17 00:26 GMT (UK)  »
Wanting to discover an average soldier's experience during the battalion's 8 months in South Africa during 1902; hoping that someone has access to a diary of such a solider as my ancestor was in the battalion during this time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I (sort of) know his employer's name, 'Mr. Bolli', and his actual occupation, Glass Blower.

Where would I start with that information?

The Common Room / Pottery Bottler?
« on: Monday 06 March 17 18:43 GMT (UK)  »
My great great grandfather worked as a "pottery bottler", as well as a glass blower from the 1890s to the 1910s in Hockley, Birmingham.

I am wondering what a pottery bottler is and what the job entails.

If anyone can find it on this map of Brearley Street and tell me which building it is, I would be very grateful.
E.g. this is where 145 Brearley Street was:
