Staffordshire Lookup Requests / Lindleys Buildings, Hednesford area
« on: Sunday 06 February 22 15:01 GMT (UK)  »
The 1901 and 1911 census have Lindley Buildings as an area (Hamlet) in the Ecclesiastical District of Hednesford.
I have perused many maps of that period but not found a mention of them. My children's maternal grandmother lived in a cottage, Lindleys Buildings. They come between The waterworks and West Cannock Cottages on the 1901 enumerators list. I also have a copy of an inquest in the 1926 Local Courier that mentions Lindley Buildings. Thank you in anticipation.  Help, a 92 year Yorkshire young un,

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Handsworth Marriage
« on: Monday 12 October 15 14:53 BST (UK)  »
Thomas Shaw married Elizabeth Oliver in Handsworth Church (Sheffield) in July 1824. Is it possible that anyone can tell me if the parish record had details of the father of the bride. Elizabeth was born in Swinton nr Rotherham, about 1804, when only one Oliver family resided in Swinton. I am trying to tie up some loose ends. Are copies of the marriage record available anywhere ?.

Canada Lookup Request / Hamilton
« on: Monday 04 May 15 15:51 BST (UK)  »
Albert Downing a singer musician left England in 1922 and worked in Canada - we have Alberts death certificate which states he died at 74 Main West, Hamilton, Ontario. 21st May 1938. He attended and was the musician for the First United Church. His total length of stay was 27 years this was broken with a visit back to England in 1921, so it states his last length of stay was 3 years. A memoriam in his English home town newspaper says that Albert died in Pennsylvania, USA at the home of his sister, we have no knowledge of a sister in America and no idea of who posted the article.
Is it possible to find out who was living at 74 Main West at the time Albert was there or if a memorial tribute was posted in a local Hamilton newspaper or Church Magazine
Thank you in anticipation

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Horton 1861
« on: Friday 23 March 12 19:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Linc's,
I have Thomas Horton born 1851 give or take a bit on census 1871 onwards always stating his birthplace as Nettleton, I cannot find him on the 1861 where I hoped to find him living with his parents, I see a thomas Horton born 1st qu 1850 at Caistor Linc's but hoped to find a parish record or census ref before spending my money on a certificate (I am a Yorkie next to being as tight as a Scotsman).
Help would be appreciated.
