Hi there -  Was trying to look up an obit link I have, but for some reason it will not allow me to access it from Scotland??  Any ideas how to get round it, or could someone perhaps look it up for me and be able to copy & paste the details (if there are any)?  Would be much obliged.  Thank you.

Link is as follows;  http://www.chieftain.com/obituaries/index/1169704800

Obit is for George Malcolm MacKintosh, died Jan 2007.

Thanks for any advice/help.

Ross & Cromarty / Query re. WW1 Roll of Honour
« on: Friday 20 April 18 17:19 BST (UK)  »
Hope I'm posting in the correct section?  My query relates to Donald Clark, from Gordons Mills, who appears on this Roll of Honour - trying to rule him in/out of my tree research.  Does this Roll of Honour mean he was a casualty/died in WW1, if so I cannot find him on the CWWGC site?  Or does it mean he survived?  Not sure where/what to search for?
The person I am looking for is a son of Donald & Sarah Clark, so just trying to establish whether this is him or not?  Thank you for any suggestions.

Trying to decide if the signature of William McGillivray (Brother) is the same person that signed the next death entry below, as William McGillivray (Cousin).  Just cant quite make my mind up.  Deaths registered 6 days apart.  Common surname for the area so just cant be sure if its one person or two!
Thanks.

Attaching a photo.  Going by information about the photographer, the date is 1906-1907.  A bit puzzled when you zoom in, it looks like (especially around the womans headwear) its been edited/or part of the background erased etc.?  Was this common practice?  Its a bit faded.  What do the experts think?  Thank you.

Occupation Interests / Query re. Census occupation in 1841
« on: Friday 23 September 16 18:43 BST (UK)  »
Quick question - I know they rounded down ages in the 1841 Census, but did they have any shortcuts/different names for occupations?  Puzzling over a Census which I think is my Family, but on every other Census they have been 'Shoemakers/Shoemakers Son/Shoemakers Apprentice..... however on this they have been listed (father & son) as a Taylor & Tailor which seems very strange indeed??   ::)    Any ideas folks?

Cant get onto Scotlands People today  :-X  Looking at an 1851 Census for Dunmaglass, Daviot, Nairn, Scotland for the Shaw Family (Head being William Shaw, Married, Shepherd, birth year 1777 Inverness-shire).  My question is, is it actually FindMyPast that transcribes the originals??  Wondering if there has been a mistake somewhere along the line, as everything ties in for the Family apart from the wife and the daughters names;  FindMyPast says Elizabeth (for both) and I suspect it should be Isabel/Isabella (for both) - any other way of double checking this when SP is out of action??  Thanks folks.  Shall try and copy & paste the link to the record, but it may not work...

Very surprised to find tonight that a relative of mine, in 1978, managed to get hold of details from an 1821 Census??  I had no idea there was one done as early as that?  Any ideas where I would find a copy?  :o
