Tyrone / Birth address record
« on: Thursday 03 December 20 12:26 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for help please on Birth Certificate details. If a 1915 birth record gives the child's 'date and place of birth' as the parent's address in Belfast, does that mean the birth actually took place at that address. Could the birth actually have taken place at a different location in N. Ireland e.g. at the grandparent's address and simply been registered at the home address in Belfast?

Derry (Londonderry) / Aghanloo Cemetery?
« on: Thursday 27 October 16 10:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone please advise on how best to find out in which cemetery Charles and Jane Bonner (nee Johnston) may be in, having lived in Aghanloo, Co. Londonderry? Charles (R.C.) was born around 1887, Jane (C.of I.) in 1885. They married in Fintona C. of I. Parish Church in 1908. On-line, Aghanloo Cemetery seems to be mainly military?

Dates of their passing not known though probably in the 1950's. I have been told that they are buried 'at the local church' in Aghanloo though I don't know which church or denomination?

Tyrone / Urney, Strabane Records
« on: Monday 03 October 16 15:44 BST (UK)  »
I have found the online NLI Records to be an excellent source of information for baptisms and marriages but unfortunately, they have no records for Urney, Strabane. I have searched GRONI, Ancestry, Family Search but as yet not found the information I seek for the era 1850 - 1890. Can anyone suggest any other possible on-line sources for RC marriages and baptisms for the Urney area please?

Tyrone / Location?

Hi All,

On a Marriage Certificate for a wedding held at Fintona Church of Ireland in 1908 the Bride's residence is stated as 'Anaghbo' which I have found as near to Fintona. The Groom's Residence at the Time of Marriage is stated simply as 'Basnagh' which I cannot locate - may not even be in Ireland? Any suggestions please?

Perthshire / John Bonner
« on: Thursday 29 October 15 09:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Looking for help to trace information on a John Bonner (Pte 10778 6th Batt of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers) born in Tyrone, Ireland, who was in the Military Hospital Perth in 1918. His 'address for pay' and home address on military records given as 2, Ramsay Street, Crieff, Perthshire. While in hospital he had correspondence from a Miss C Sandeman from the same address but do not know of relationship. Unable to trace either after 1918. Any help would be appreciated or suggestions of where best to search for either? I am on Ancestry but no luck there.

Tyrone / Strabane Cemeteries

Hi, can anyone please help in suggesting cemeteries to visit in the Strabane area where one might find details of deceased Roman Catholic ancestors from late 1850's to 1900? I am aware of Melmount Cemetery and perhaps Glendermott? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tyrone / Bonner from Camus Co. Tyrone
« on: Tuesday 02 December 14 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I am trying to research my family history but really struggling. My grandfather was Joseph Bonner, he and his brother William joined the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers at Omagh, N. Ireland and fought in the ‘Great War’. Joseph married Elizabeth Donaldson on 30th Jan 1913 in Omagh and lived there until his death in 1957. His brother William Bonner died from his wounds in France on 4th Nov 1914 and is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetry, Nord, France (his Reg. No. was 9848 2nd Batt.). His death report in ‘Irelands Memorial Records’ says that he was born in Camus, Co.Tyrone and that is the only clue I have to their past. Josephs wedding certificate gives his address simply as ‘Soldiers Barracks, Omagh’ and his father was a James Bonner. I cannot find them on the 1901 or 1911 census and I am really disappointed that William’s sacrifice does not seem to be recognised anywhere. I did find a death cert dated 20th June 1891 for a John Bonner (postmaster) in Clady who’s brother James was present at the death but don’t know if there is any connection. Thank you.

World War One / Private William Bonner - No. 9848 Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers
« on: Thursday 27 November 14 14:54 GMT (UK)  »
My Uncle, Private William Bonner - No. 9848 of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers died from his wounds at the age of 23 on 4th November 1914 in France and is buried in Bailleul Communal Cemetery, Nord, France.

He was born in on 2nd April 1888 in Derry (Londonderry) son of Thomas and Julia Bonner. I have had great difficulty in finding information about him and his name does not appear on the Derry WW1 Memorial nor is it listed with other names apparently omitted from the memorial. It is said 'their name liveth for evermore' and 'they will never be forgotten' How can I find more information on him and try to have his name remembered?
