Orkney / Looking for James William Robertson born 1891 - ? Orkney
« on: Sunday 16 August 15 16:32 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning,

I'm looking for any information that can lead me to my Great Uncle, James William Robertson.  He was born Dec 30 1891 in Aberdeen, to James Robertson and Mary Ann Davidson.  He was my grandfather's brother.

He and his parents and brothers, Oliver and John, moved back to Orkney when he was a small boy.  His parents died in 1903 and 1905, leaving him to look after his siblings.  In 1911, Oliver was living with an Aunt and Uncle.  By 1913, Oliver was deceased.  My grandfather emigrated to the US in 1929 and died in 1975 in Massachusetts.  So, I know what happened to those two, my problem, is what happened to James William Robertson?

Did he marry? Have kids? Die during the first WW?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Jenn

Scotland / Robertson's in Inverness and Orkney
« on: Sunday 18 January 15 15:03 GMT (UK)  »
Good Morning,

I'm trying to determine where my Robertson's originated from.  I'm helping a friend to search for his Robertson family in Inverness, and we think there might be a connection with my Robertson family in Orkney.  I'm trying to determine how my Robertson's came to Orkney and if there is a connection to the Robertson's of Inverness.

The furthest back for my family is George Robertson (b. about 1701 in Orphir) and his wife Jean Gray (b. about 1700 in Orphir).

For my friend I've been able to get back to John Robertson (no dates - born North Uist, Invernesshire) and his wife, Catherine Macqullis. I don't know if that is the correct spelling or not.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jenn (Robertson) Linn
