US Completed Requests / The Oregonian Newspaper 2009 Obituary SOLVED
« on: Wednesday 03 June 20 17:02 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out how I can access an obituary that was printed in The Oregonian newspaper on Jan 20th 2009. I found this link:

https://www.oregonlive.com/editors/2013/12/how_to_access_the_oregonians_a.html

It explains how to access older copies and that the archive from 1987 is available via OregonLive.com but I've tried searching on there every which way to no avail.

Any help locating the obits section of this edition of the newspaper gratefully received! Thanks.

Renfrewshire / Wellpark Parish Church - Greenock
« on: Monday 05 June 17 13:34 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find photographs of Wellpark Parish Church that was on Lynedoch Street in Greenock. I think it was demolished in 2002:

I can see that Canmore have some but they're not viewable online.

Thanks for any help.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with names on death record?
« on: Friday 31 March 17 18:59 BST (UK)  »
I'm struggling with some of this death record - in particular the maiden name of the mother.

I think it says John McLagan, farmer, deceased (I'm not 100% on farmer but looks most likely!)

Then Julia McLagan M.S. G???? (deceased). I'm not even sure on the G.

Thanks for any help.

Technical Help / GEDcom comparison tool?
« on: Sunday 05 February 17 16:01 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find something I can use to compare two gedcoms that have nearly 7,000 names in them.  One has 42 more people in it than the other and I want to isolate the 42 extras and find out who they are!  Going through each line by line to find this 42 is going to take forever so was hoping there might be a tool I can use that could quickly do it for me but I haven't come across anything.  I've seen a few things that talk aobut finding matches between trees but I don't want to see the over 6,800 matches - I just want the extra ones.

Any ideas gratefully received!  Thanks.

Canada / James KELLEY New Brunswick
« on: Thursday 17 November 16 18:46 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out who the parents of James Kelley/Kelly were - he was apparently born in New Brunswick on 10th Oct 1847/48/49 (given as 1847 on his gravestone, 1848 on a census and 1849 on his death certificate).  He married Margaret Hotham on 28th May 1881 and they had several children.  He died on 30th Jul 1931 in Bath, Carleton, New Brunswick.  His son James gives his parents names as George Kelly born Ireland and Anna (unknown).  As this is the only place I've seen his parents names, however, I can't be sure his son had this correct.

I have been trying to find him on the 1851/61/71 census returns with a George/Anna but I can't pick anything out. I've found him on the 1891, 1901, 1911 and 1921 census in Kent, Carleton after his marriage.

Any help to break this brick wall gratefully received.  Thanks

United States of America / Elizabeth HITT Mystery
« on: Friday 28 October 16 00:41 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out more about a woman named Elizabeth HITT but have hit a dead end.  According to her death entry in the SSDI Elizabeth was born on 15th Sep 1907 in New York and she died in Sep 1976 in Jamaica, Queens, New York under the name Elizabeth Schramm.  I cannot find a birth to match her and I cannot find her on the 1910, 1920 or 1930 US Census returns either.

She apparently married an Anthony Chicchetti in the late 1920s but again I can find no sign of this.  They had two children and I have found her on the 1940 census as Betty Chicchetti with her two children.  I believe that only weeks after the 1940 census she gave birth to a son the first of six children with a Harold Schramm who was living as a lodger on the same street in 1940.  Again she apparently married Harold but I have no details of that.  I've concentrated on trying to find her on the 1930 census with her eldest child Muriel, who was born in 1928, as I thought that should be the easiest one to find her on but I just can't find them at all.

On two of her children's death entries her name is given as Elizabeth M Hitt and I've also seen it as Elizabeth Ann Hitt.

Any help greatly appreciated as she is such a mystery at the moment.  Thanks.
