Orkney / Mary Ann Guthrie ancestors

Mary Ann Guthrie married William Spence (b 31 May 1789 Holm & Paplay, Orkney - d 11 Jun 1825)
I have no details on her at all.
Was she possibly related to Jean/Jane Guthrie (b abt 1805 Shapinsay who married William's brother James Maxwell Spence (b 1803 Orkney Islands)? My information on Jean/Jane doesn't show a Mary Ann Guthrie, so I have no information on her at all.
Anything that anyone knows/finds would be greatfully appreciated.

I'm trying to find information on my ex husbands parents for our children.
He was born I R R, but changed his name  when his mother remarried.
He was born in the 1950's
His mother was J M L
His father I know nothing about except his surname was R.
I don't have a marriage date, birth date or even if he is alive or deceased.
I've managed to trace his mother's parents.
Father C H L
Mother M E ?
This is all the info I've been able to trace through Electoral rolls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want to add my boys father's line to our tree, but know little about them.

Eric HAMM was born in Berlin Germany 22 April 1940.
He died 6 February 2011 in Sebastopol, California, USA.
He married Judith Anne Pearce 7 December 1963.
I'm researching for his daughter who knows nothing else about him, no parents, nothing.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
