World War Two / WW2 Naval Service Record query
« on: Thursday 13 February 14 22:13 GMT (UK)  »
I have a WW2 Royal Navy Service record that lists variety of vessels and the dates served. However, some of the entries contain brackets ie. Clio (Derwent), Nile (Derwent) and Calliope (Launceston Castle) etc.
Can somebody please explain the reason for the brackets ?

Many thanks,

MikeW

Lincolnshire / William Selby b. abt 1844 Lincolnshire
« on: Thursday 17 January 13 17:07 GMT (UK)  »
Your assistance please.
I cannot get past the above person. I have his marriage to Betsy Bishop abt Dec 1874, Howden, Yorkshire and an 1881 Census return giving b. 1844 North Kelsey, Lincolnshire.
But I cannot confirm him on FreeBMD (several Wiiliams), nor can I find a baptism.
The only clue I have is the 1851 census that I think could be him living with his Uncle, Jonathan King, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to help me.
Any assistance gratefully received,
Many thanks,
Mike W

How to Use RootsChat (Please don't post requests here) / topic icons
« on: Thursday 27 October 05 22:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Please excuse this 'dumb' question, but I have posted two new topics since finding RootsChat and both are shown as 'topic you have posted in' whereas most others are shown as 'Normal Topic'.
What's the difference and what am I doing wrong.

Please show sympathy for this wrinkly !!

Regards,
Mike W
