Does anyone have any information about an alleged copper mine (The Hamlet Copper Mine?) in the Porthdafarch area of Holyhead,Anglesey, near an inlet called Copper Mine Creek on OS maps. It is said that the Romans mined copper there and it was started up again in the 1850's to the 1880's, but i have also been told that it was an elaborate con to raise money from investors and grants.

Family History Beginners Board / Buffalo Bill
« on: Sunday 11 March 18 00:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, as a child i remember my Grandfather telling me about the time he as a child was taken to see Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show whilst it was in Holyhead ( Tuesday May 3rd 1904). Were it took place is unclear to me , he told me of one place and someone else said he had been told the site was some were else.Looking through Welsh Newspaper archives on line i found some posters of venues close to Holyhead, (Bangor, Caernarvon, Aberystwyth etc ) and they mention the site were the show took place but only dates of future shows. I have spent some time looking through these archives but i can't find an actual poster of the show in Holyhead stating were it would take place. It must have been quite an event with extra sailings laid on from Kingstown ( Dunlaoghaire). It's amazing to me how the show managed to move around the country so quick with so many people and horse's involved.Does anyone  know anything about the show in Holyead and were it took place.

Hello, does anyone know anything about the surname of Bogue,(Irish). My Grandfather's sister was married to a Francis or Frank Bogue, he was the son of an Irish Cattle dealer also i think Frank or Francis. There is a playing field near were i live  Known as Car Bogey welsh for Bogue's field it's were he would graze his cattle in a break in the journey from Ireland, and apparently he left it for local people in his will for recreational purposes and not to be built on, and it hasn't to this day.I wonder if they know of this.
