Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Lookup at Gloucester Record Office
« on: Monday 18 February 19 13:57 GMT (UK)  »
If anybody is going to Gloucester Record Office could they possibly get the details of an archive item held there for me, i understand it to be two pages. A digital image would be fine, or failing that just the details, and i am happy to reimburse any costs involved.
I am doing some local history research for Beckenham in Kent and see something relevant at Gloucester D1799/L56 relating to Thomas Povey and Kelseys 1692 which purports to list field names and tenants.
Happy to reciprocate at Bromley Kent Historic Collections or may be able to assist with anything relating to Kent, London, Surrey and Sussex.

Many Thanks

I can see a marriage for Richard Williams & Charlotte Rudge 1 Feb 1857 would anyone be able to tell me the fathers name for Richard and the witnesses to the wedding in the hope that it will help to identify which Richard Williams.

Charlotte was widowed in 1862 and remarried to Isaac Williams 12 Oct 1863 at Romsley who i think i can identify but if this could also be looked up that would be sound confirmation. Thank You.

Buckinghamshire / Hardwick - Newton Blossomville lookup
« on: Thursday 12 April 18 12:48 BST (UK)  »
I have found an Ann Hardwick widow of Newton Blossomville marrying a James Fisher 12/7/1733 at Easton  Maudit. In 1739 an Elizabeth Hardwick is buried and i think it reads granddaughter of James Fisher joiner. Investigation has shown an Edward Hardwick married Ann Divet at Newton Blossomville on 16/12/1703 and that Edward (an innholder) was buried 12/11/1732 which all fits.

The children at Newton Blossomville are: (some read Hardic)

Thomas 5/11/1704
Edward and David 6/4/1707 twins
William 13/5/1711
James 7/4/1713
BLANK 17/8/1718

There are two possibilities for the 1718 baptism - Elizabeth mentioned above (if female) and John as i am looking for a John born around this time who married at Easton Maudit 1742.

Would someone be so kind as to check whether we can determine at least the sex of this baptism?

There appear to be later entries at N-B for Edward Hardwick but none of the others - any ideas welcome

Many thanks

I am researching a calico printer called William Tagg of Crayford Kent. I have never had much to go on as regards his birthplace but in his will there is mention of two messuages in Yarnfield and his only relatives being John Astbury and Mary his daughter of Meece House who inherited the property from George Steedman 1748-1820. George Steedman married Ann Astbury at Hanley Castle 1785 and his sister Elizabeth to Edward Astbury 1771. Thomas Astbury was vicar at Hanley Castle until 1789 (previously Standon). There is also a marriage of a William Tagg to Ann Astbury 1754 at Swynnerton which I believe to be the link. Trouble is I am having terrible trouble making any sense of the Astbury and Steedman families, certainly the Astbury's held Blacklow and property in Hanbury Castle Worcs and Thomas Astbury sent his son Thomas to Worcester to be educated. In his will George Steedman mentions a property in Yarnfield occupied by widow Bakewell and this name also appears at one of the items in William Tagg's will as Yarnfield Hall Mr W Bakewell so I think that Tagg may have bought the properties from John Astbury as I know that he was under a bankruptcy petition at the time. In the will of Thomas Astbury vicar of Hanbury Castle 1789 he mentions his friends William Tagg of Horton and Matthew Plant of Standon.

Can anybody help?

Any info on William Tagg or his wife Ann at Horton
Perhaps a plant family connection
Any Astbury and Steedman CMB's
and finally William Tagg also left £100 to Sneyd Esq of Keel Hall by way of charity relief for any of the Hawses (not sure if that is absolutely correct) family deemed worthy. Any ideas?

And of course if anybody's research overlaps all the better

Sorry its a bit rambling if you need clarification please ask

Keith
