Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Jane Humphreys born 1827 in Gresford or Moss
« on: Friday 28 August 15 23:37 BST (UK)  »
Jane Humphreys born 1827, was married to John Grant in 1845, in Broughton, Chester.  Her Father was John Humphreys, cabinet maker, on the marriage certificate.
That is all I know.
All through the censuses from 1851 - 1901 she says she was born in Gresford, and then on the 1911 census it says she was born in Moss, which is quite a way from Gresford.
I would like to get further back in the family, but I can't find anything other than her father's name and occupation.
Would like her mother's and siblings' names. I found a grave at Moss for a Sarah Humphreys born 1815 I think it was. An older sister possibly? Any one help please?

Somerset Lookup Requests / James Coles born 1826 in Evercreech, Somerset
« on: Saturday 04 July 15 14:53 BST (UK)  »
I am interested in finding the name of James' mother. His father was Charles Coles, farmer.
Also the marriage of his parents, and any other info about this family. I only have info about James from the 1851 census onwards, after he moved to North Wales, and his marriage in 1852, where I got his father's name.
James was a station porter, then a station master, then an innkeeper. Would there be any employment records to do with an apprenticeship on the railway,? I cannot find him on the 1841 census in Somerset or Wales.
Any help would be welcome
Thanks

Caernarvonshire Lookup Requests / Edward Lewis Coles
« on: Tuesday 30 June 15 17:28 BST (UK)  »
I've been researching for a friend the Coles/Lewis family from Aber, Caernarfonshire. Her 2xg grandfather, Edward Lewis Coles, born 1853, in Aber, son of innkeeper James Coles is not listed on either 1861 or 1871 census with the family, and I can't find him anywhere else. I first find him in Liverpool on the 1881 census, with his wife Mary Jane nee Ince, and children. Any ideas?

Also James Coles' wife Eliza nee Lewis is a puzzle, as there are two of that name, 1841 with Jane Lewis, 1851 daur of Hannah Lewis. Both mothers are innkeepers/farmers. Jane's husband was Edward on 1851. Their inn has got quite a history, and they did have a daur Elizabeth

James Henry Coles was a witness at marriage of Edward Lewis Coles and Mary Jane Ince, and there is a son of that name with James and Eliza on 1861 1871 censuses
