Birkett Robert Cragg born 2/10/1840 Broken Brow registered Kendal 7/11/1840, informant mother Mary Cragg

1841 census Broken Brow Preston Richard Head of household Mary Cragg is a widow, BR listed as grandson and single daughter Mary listed with other family members.

Birkett Robert 's marriage certificate 1865 Coppull Lancashire names him as Robert Birkett age 23 and his father is listed as Thomas Shepherd.
I have been unable to locate BR or his mother on 1851 or 1861 census nor find his grandmother Mary's husband or her maiden name.
Possibility of BR listed as Robert in Slyne With Hest 1851 census with Margaret Cragg listed as visitor in the household where he is ag. labourer.

Any help/suggestions will be really appreciated

Shropshire Lookup Requests / marriage BODEN /MORGAN nr Coalbrookdale
« on: Sunday 19 November 06 13:25 GMT (UK)  »
Birth certificates of 2 sisters Alice Emma b 1869 and Annie Elizabeth b 1871 both Coalbrookdale show their mother Sarah to have maiden name of Boden and I assume (maybe wrongly) that the marriage took place in that area. Their father was Richard Morgan b 1840/1841 in Aberhafesp Montgomeryshire (this knowledge from census returns)
The family moved to Lancashire around 1899/1900 and I need to confirm this marriage.
Grateful for any help/suggestions

Lancashire / Lancashire on -line parish clerk project

May I suggest the above link as a possible help to searchers?

Lancashire has a vast amount of parishes but an increasing number of volunteers (visit the site and consider joining us!) are extracting records to be freely accessed by those with Lancashire connections.
Give the site a try - many parishes have no records extracted yet but the on-line parish clerks will help where they can by e mail
e.g. I am currently extracting Euxton near Chorley records. Baptisms & burials are complete but I am happy to respond to e mails to help with the marriage records I am still working on and the majority of my colleagues would help wherever they can.

Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / Feeley research
« on: Monday 05 December 05 15:54 GMT (UK)  »
I have been given some scribbled notes by a Miss Feeley (living in Edinburgh in 1983 )relating to a query regarding finding any living relatives, a newspaper cutting about her father and a reply from "Irish Roots" who had researched for Miss Feeley.
Anyone interested in the name might find the snippets of information of some use to their own research
These bits were among a house clearance so presumably that was after the death of Miss Feeley who was born in 1908, a few months after the death of her father Frank Michel Feeley 1865-1908

Westmorland Lookup Requests / Birkett/Cragg
« on: Tuesday 29 November 05 18:28 GMT (UK)  »
Contact from a fellow researcher of Cragg family left me wondering if anyone on here could help us make a connection between the Birkett and Cragg surnames?
I have a Birkett Robert Cragg (sometimes listed as Robert Birkett) born Broken Brow Preston Richard in 1840 (Birkett has also been used as an extra or first christian name in later generations) leading us to think there must somewhere be a relevant Birkett/Cragg marriage, possibly Haversham/Crossthwaite or Halecat and Beetham might be included.
Many thanks

Kirkcudbrightshire / Florence Jane McKenzie b1872
« on: Sunday 20 November 05 15:53 GMT (UK)  »
Florence had 5 brothers and 1 sister - at least one of her brothers was born in Falkirk although Florence appears to have made her home with maiden aunts, sisters of her father in Belmont Kirkcudbright
Florence was a first cousin of her grandfather and grandmother who were, in turn, first cousins themselves!
Any information re family dates and places would be appreciated

many thanks
