Monmouthshire / James Kenvin (Kynvin)
« on: Tuesday 20 August 19 03:03 BST (UK)  »
Various Census date James's birth between 1817 to 1820, and in one, he is stated to have been born at Risca.
His parents were William and Sarah Kenvin.
A number of siblings between 1813 to 1815 are shown to be born at Risca and have the spelling of Kynvin.
However, I am unable to locate any birth record for James anywhere in Monmouthshire.
Can anyone assist please?
Ken.

Hitting a brick wall with this one. Have located 3 William Trezise married to Elizabeths at St Just.
Elizabeth Warren (m) 14/12/1813, Elizabeth Jermin (m) 14/11/1812 & Elizabeth Edwards (m) 27/3/1811. No doubt there are others, but which one of the Elizabeth's is Williams mother?
Have discounted the 'Warren' as her address is given as 'St Keverne' and name change to Tresise.
My William was bap. at Trewellard.
Of the 'Edwards' children, Charlotte 7/7/1811, Martin 27/4/1817 & Elizabeth 5/12/1819 all bear Edwards as a second name. Cannot find this family in the 1841 Census. Martin & Eliz both married 1842.
Then there is a William & Elizabeth Trezise with children Sebelah 21/9/1822, John 27/2/1825 & Thomas 21/2/1830 recorded  at Bojewyah in the 1841 Census. All children of this family and the Edwards children bap at Trewellard.
Can anyone help please.

Shropshire / 1881 Census Emma Chadwick of Barrow in Furness Lancashire
« on: Wednesday 20 April 16 03:21 BST (UK)  »
Through this young lady b 1863, I am trying to establish the parents of William DAVIES with whom she is living in 1881. I have an 1871 Census of Madeley Shropshire recording an Emma Chadwick, mother Sarah b 1840 (states b at Broseley Shropshire) and was probably Sarah DAVIES and a possible sister of William. Sarah DAVIES married Thomas Chadwick in 1861 at Madeley V6A p 830.
The 1881 Madeley Census includes similar family members apart from Emma, perhaps because she lived with William in Barrow.
I know William's father to be John, deceased before 1869 and mother stated to be Hannah EARLSTONE on his death certificate, but could she be Hannah HURLSTON (Shropshire Marriage 15 Sep 1838 at Benthall p27/A/3/3.
The 1881 Barrow Census also includes a Thomas DAVIES b Broseley living with the SAGGAR family, a name familiar and spoken of by my father. Could he be William & Sarah's brother?
I'd love some help here. Too many possibles and not enough evidence.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Shropshire Census 1851, DAVIES.
« on: Saturday 09 April 16 05:13 BST (UK)  »
I've followed a JOHN DAVIES in the 1841 Census married to HANNAH DAVIES through to the 1861 Census, together with various children. These children seem to fit including probably my g/grandfather, William, born about 1843.
HANNAH is described in the 1851 Census as originating at Whitchurch, Shropshire.
William migrated to Australia in the 1880's with his wife and children, and upon his death, his mother's maiden name is given as EARLSTONE.
I've not had any success in tracking down any Earlstone anywhere but have come across a MARRIAGE on 28th Jan 1826 between a JOHN DAVIES and HANNAH WHITFIELD, at West Felton, Anglican Ref. P298/A/3/3 page 27.
The 1881 Census of William and family taken at Barrow in Furness, includes a niece, Emma Chadwick, a daughter of a Mary Chadwick of Staffs or Sarah Chadwick of Salop, both of which mother's names fit the earlier JOHN DAVIES Census which makes me think that WHITFIELD is correct.
I'd love some assistance with this please.
